Take you passion for sports to the children of St Lucia and become a volunteer netball coach for underprivileged children.
Join our teams to help deliver sports sessions to kids. We do this in a number of sports as part of our mass participation programme, bringing as many kids together to have fun but also learn new skills in a structured environment. Visit the beautiful Carribean island of St Lucia and you will probably never want to leave. You will fall in love with the beaches. the laid back atmosphere and the friendly people you will meet.
Sports is so important to the local people as it connects communities and gives the children a real focus and drive to achieve. You can share your passion for netball and teach the local children the rules, game techniques and drills to improve their game. You will build close relationships with the children you coach and it is so rewarding to notice small improvements as they listen to and really appreciate your advice. You will have the opportunity to work with children of varying skill levels and ages, you will need to adapt your coaching style accordingly, coaching will normally take place in the late afternoons/evenings, after the children have finished their school day.
The team in St Lucia are so welcoming and you will have a fantastic time exploring St Lucia and socialising with the other volunteers, sports matches will be organised between the locals and the volunteer and you will be encouraged to get involved even if it is not the sport you are there to coach.
This will be a once in a life time experience that you are sure to never forget!
The main aim with this project is to bring kids together and give them further opportunities to play in a structured and friendly environment. We also use our coaching sessions to invite kids to our after school programme where we improve education, raise health awareness and build life-skills. Sport for us is a powerful tool to teach kids important messages and we need your help to help us reach our goals.
