Nutrition Trainer

Buea, Cameroon

Designing and dispensing nutrition training to local women groups. This program has the practical farming aspects for organic farming - veges, maize

The volunteer shall be involved in the following activities:

-The volunteer shall develop didactic material for training on nutrition .
-The training shall take place in a rural milieu most of the time.
-The volunteer will work with the rest of the staff in the office in charge of this project
-The training is for village women groups (we do not work with individuals not belonging to a group).
-Participate in planning during weekly meetings and contribute ideas to different programs - bee keeping, HIV-AIDS, Sexuality and
Reproductive health sensitization, environmental education in schools, capacity building for local groups.
-Participate in organic farming of vegetables, maize, and beans.  Our nutrition training kit continues to improve.  So the volunteer will bring new ideas. We are open to innovations.
-Assist our organization in www management and communications (this is not a major responsibility for the volunteer).
-The volunteer shall assist in the organizing training workshops on nutrition and other as well as research and write scripts for our nutrition radio programme.  This programme entails travelling to some hinterland so the volunteer should be willing to adapt to local conditions.
Besides, the volunteer may prepare talks on HIV-AIDS (mainstreaming).

-Fundraising is an integral part of our work.  The volunteer will assist us in fundraising for this project - writing up project  proposal and advising on how to better manage donors.

Free-time activities

During off time, the volunteer can visit the night club (However, I do not guarantee full security at late night). It is important for the volunteer to note that night time is not the best for anyone. Vigilance is therefore envisaged on the volunteer's part. South West Region where the project is implemented, is generally very safe for all.

In the day like week ends, the volunteer can visit the beach and swim and spend some time with nature. The volunteer can also visit the Limbe Wildlife Center (zoo) and see some animals common to our forests.

All of these activities are at the volunteer's cost. Our beaches are good. There is the Seme beach and others in the West Coast of Limbe. The volunteer who likes to swim in the sea would love to go there during leisure hours - public holidays and weekends.
