Sucre, Bolivia show on map

Run our volunteer programme, work with our Bolivian staff in our central office in Sucre, and manage our communication strategy!

BiblioWorks promotes education and literacy in communities in need. We believe that healthy communities require healthy minds. That is why we have been building libraries, supplying books and training librarians in the poorest communities in Bolivia since 2005. So far, we have opened 13 libraries located in rural communities at varying distances from Sucre with more scheduled to open soon.

Our Volunteer and Communications Coordinator works in our Sucre office with the director of BiblioWorks and the Library Project Managers. The Coordinator handles all aspects of recruiting, vetting and supporting volunteers before they arrive in Bolivia, as well as while they are volunteering. He or she is based in the central office in Sucre but travels to visit the libraries with the Library Project Managers to assist with library training and settling in of volunteers. In the office, he or she handles communication in English so as to inform the public and potential volunteers and donors about our actions, translating and interpreting as necessary for the Director.

The office is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm. The Volunteer Coordinator is expected to work ~20 hours per week within those times.

Free-time activities

There are plenty of cultural activities available in Sucre for you to take part in, although these are not organised by BiblioWorks. You will also have the chance to meet the volunteers working for the charity, as well as get to know the staff in the office.
