Outreach co-coordinator

Reaching out to street kids and those living in impoverished communities with a view of improving their quality of life.

About the Program

This program entails coordinating both the Street and Community outreaches:

Street outreach (Roles and responsibilities):

The Street Outreach program takes place every Tuesday evening. This service offers the volunteer the opportunity to engage children living on the streets and provide them with basic survival supplies, crisis intervention, support and community resource connections. Some of the specific tasks shall include the following:
  • Organizing weekly programs and ensuring that everything is falling according to plan
  • Creating child profiles for street kids and updating the data base accordingly
  • Facilitating family re-union or/and placing rescued kids in facilities providing residential care
  • Arranging hospital visits in case some kids require medical attention

Community outreach (Roles and responsibilities)

The Community Outreach program is undertaken every Thursday. The program presents the volunteer the opportunity to get involved in community service on a regular basis. This enables you to get a clear picture of some of the basic needs of the people residing in impoverished settlements. Some of the tasks include but not limited to the following:

  • Researching the needs of the people in the community. Checking with the relevant authorities (the city council, town hall, local businesses, churches and nonprofits for their opinion on what the area needs. This should then lead to compiling a list of possible projects.
  • Meeting with the management team to set up a plan on which projects fit with the organization's mission statement. Make a list of goals or projects to be achieved within a year.
  • Applying for grants/donations from individuals, churches, nonprofit organisations, corporate world and the government.
  • Commence implementing the projects immediately finances are made available. The volunteer will be expected to regularly keep stakeholders informed through newsletters and blogs.
