Volunteer in underprivileged Pre-schools in South Africa and make a real difference to the lives of local children!
By joining this programme you will provide much needed teaching support and manpower to underprivileged pre-schools for children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years.
Pre-schools in our underprivileged communities often have very basic facilities and limited funding. EDGE of AFRICA works in conjunction with local education authorities to identify schools that are most in need of our support.
You will be assisting with teaching fun and educational lessons and will help local children to develop important language, creative and mathematical skills.
You will also be helping to ensure that these schools are a safe and inspiring place to learn by assisting with renovating and maintaining school facilities and developing teaching resources.
You can rest assured that your efforts will make a lasting difference in the lives you touch.
When you arrive in Knysna, EDGE of AFRICA has some great opportunities lined up for your stay including: visits to various food and craft markets; Whale & Dolphin boat trips; shark cage diving; wildlife sanctuaries including getting close to various cat, elephant and monkey species; highest bungee jump in the world; canoeing, hiking and climbing; and visits to numerous breath-taking beaches and beautiful rivers.
As part of our Elephant Research and Community Conservation Initiative, we take a trip to Addo National Park approximately once a month with our volunteers. If there is a trip scheduled during your time with us, you have the option of joining this excursion (at an additional cost). This park offers some of the most spectacular elephant viewing in the world. Addo’s over 500 elephants will delight visitors with their antics. You have the chance of seeing the Big 5 on this trip too!
