Our volunteers work with prisoners including juveniles and inmates in prisons

Our volunteers taking part in the Prison Outreach program will be working with prisoners including juveniles and inmates. Volunteers will provide prisoners with counseling sessions on topics ranging from human rights, legal education, basic life skills and life in and after prison. this is done with support of professional legal persons and social workers

  • Organizing and training on human rights, legal education
  • counseling on basic life skills, life in and after prison, behavior change & HIV / AIDS, anger management
  • Writing articles, photos and filming.
  • Office work related to organization development, programming and fundraising

Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 08:00 - 17:00

Free-time activities

Safari: ACO Africa cooperates with Batudam African Adventure Safaris. Through this partnership our volunteers are offered discount on a safari trip for up to 7-9 days. Volunteers may see animals such as elephants, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, lions, rhinos or gorillas.
Sports: Volunteers will be able to play sports such as football with the children supported by ACO Africa.
Other activities: ACO Africa operates in the vicinity of the Ugandan capital of Kampala. During weekends, volunteers may visit places such as the Lubiri palace, the Uganda Museum, the Victoria Lake or a concert.



What's included?
It includes;
Accommodation: Volunteers will be provided with living facilities, accommodating 3-4 people per room.
Meals: All meals will be covered. Most of our meals are vegetarian, including banana, cassava, potatoes, rice, and corn, and beans. On occasion, we may also provide fish, beef, and goat meat.
Bottled-water: All volunteers will due to sanitary reasons be provided with bottled water
Transportation: All work-related transport will be covered, including pick-up from the airport.
What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.

You can volunteer at the project site in Kampala/Uganda between 1 weeks and 42 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. ACO Africa will tell you your final price during your application process.
Average Fees
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with ACO Africa during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
