The project 

This project is focused on research about agronomy on a local and regional basis. It mainly investigates native plants such as kiwicha, quinoa, or diferent variations of potato. But also the livestock animals like alpacas or lamas. The project is located near Cusco and cooperates with universities from all over the country to realize studies and research.

If you are interested in topics like sustainable agriculture or economies of animal production it is the right project for you. There are always some scientists collecting data for numerous projects. It is like a big green classroom for you, and you can be part of the development of new strategies for the production and cultivation of the different crop varities. You help to improve sustainable agriculture.  

Your tasks

As a volunteers you can cooperate in diferent parts of the research projects and in everyday tasks. The following tasks are just a short description of the work at the center:

  • Reforestation
  • Cultivation of different crop varities
  • Oberservation of native plants
  • Be active part of agricultural experiments
  • Taking care of animals (lamas, alpacas, guinea picks)

Your exact work tasks and schedule will be managed on-site under supervision of local staff and researchers and considering your knowledge.

You have two accommodation options:
1. You can stay with a local peruvian family. It's a unique opportunity, which will help you to better understand peruvian society. Besides this way it is easy for you to practice your language skills.
2. The other option is to stay at the guesthouse, there you are more independent and share the house with other volunteers.

You can volunteer at the project site in Cusco/Peru between 4 weeks and 25 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. South America Inside will tell you your final price during your application process.
Average Fees
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with South America Inside during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
