Provide Care for Rescued Animals

Pucallpa, Peru show on map

Take care of wild, exotic animals that have been rescued in the beautiful country of Peru! Enjoy the biodiversity of the jungle!

The Project

Have you dreamed of working with exotic animals in the jungle? Then this project is perfect for you! Support an animal rescue center in the rainforest, take care of animals, and help conserve the biodiversity of the Peruvian rainforest.

This project takes place at a rescue center, which is relatively new and one of the first of its kind in the region. Located in the middle of the Peruvian rainforest, the center provides a home for local animals that have been confiscated or come from the wild. Monkeys, sloths, turtles, and parrots live at the center, and are rehabilitated in their natural environment. The center aims to rehabilitate the animals and make them strong enough to be released back into the wild. This is sometimes possible, but in some cases, animals have to depend on the help of the center for the rest of their lives.

While you are working at the center, you will be surrounded by a stunning natural setting. You will directly contribute to the protection and conservation of the wildlife in Peru.

The project is located on approx. 140 hectares of rainforest. With the help of inhabitants from nearby villages, the center aims to re-establish the local wildlife and vegetation in the area through reforestation.

Your Tasks

As a volunteer, you will work in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by trees and exotic animals. You will have various tasks to carry out, and there is always something to do. Volunteers must be flexible, tolerant, and proactive. There are two main areas of the center where you will volunteer: animal care and construction.

When taking care of animals, tasks might include:

  • Cleaning and maintenance of cages
  • Preparing food and feeding the animals
  • Taking care of the animals
  • Monitoring the animals and keeping them busy

When assisting with construction tasks, volunteers will not work directly with the animals. These tasks, however, are just as important to keep the center running:

  • Constructing new cages, walls, floors, etc.
  • Reforestation and planting fruit trees
  • Sowing seeds
  • Maintaining paths
  • Building equipment and toys for the animals

Free-time activities

You can plan free time activities with the other volunteers. Go swim, do sports, or go hiking around the project's site.
