Youth Crime Watch of Liberia in search of volunteers interested in providing expertise for a Quality Life Skills Development for Adolescents/Youth Project in Liberia This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
Age 18+

To empower disadvantaged segment of adolescents/youths to positively develop their personality and character, and thus improve their physical and social health and enhance a strong civil society to achieve the SDGs. The project facilitate platforms and spaces wherein adolescents/youth will be taught personal responsibility with regard to their health and social development, inspiring them to become agents of change for their communities. Special attention in their training and support will be given to sexual health and rights, STIs/HIV / AIDS awareness. Finally, using motivated peer educators and youth team, several adolescent/youth-driven initiatives will be will also be undertaken. The role of the International Project Assistant will be to provide oversight mentorship and coaching to project team and support the YCWL’s ongoing life skills development program for adolescents/youth.

This will entail strategies development and trialing to combating barriers among adolescents and youth that hinder their access to improved friendly services. The task will include both center-based and community programs and services inclusive of adolescent/youth sexual health and clinical support services, civic education and awareness, sexual and gender based violence/exploitation and abuse prevention, gender and peace building. Importantly the post will support stakeholders including policymakers’ engagements through diverse means that address social change for enabling an environment where adolescents can attain their full potentials. Further, you will be required to network with external service providers through training and linkages of target beneficiaries needing referral services to health facilities, and strengthen strategies for building adolescent-demand sexual health rights and services. You will ensure that awareness activities implemented for adolescents/youth are carried out on time and to a high standard; utilizing YCWL’s standard indicator checklist for ensuring quality life skills services for adolescents/youth and comply with the donor regulations for implementation and reporting. 

Typical day

·         Provide technical guidance related to adolescents/youth activities of the project;

·         Provide substantive direction and support to project team

·         Coordinate consultation meetings and convene workshops with relevant stakeholders to encourage buying in and create enabling environment for implementation of the project.

·         Support the project coordinator with management of the day to day activities of the Project (planning, implementation, quality monitoring & closure);

·         Ensure project management is in compliance with donor’s policies and procedures.

·         In support of project delivery, work with Program Manager in close consultation with Project Coordinator on all operational management aspect of the project;

·         Review alongside the Project Coordinator the ToRs for all project personnel and or consultants to provide needed staff support in the discharge of staffers respective duties in the implementation of the project;

·         Support the project coordinator in preparation and update of project work plans, as well as other specific plans from time to time and submit these for clearance by the Program manager

·         Consult with program management and PC on the direct management of project resources in support of the project delivery

·         Provide advice and guidance to the project staff and YCWL’s management relative to effective and effective execution of the project

·         Support coordination around the project implementation with other projects and activities within and outside of YCWL’s scope and build partnerships and leverage resources,

·         Report to YCWL’s management on a regular basis through weekly debriefs and monthly written report submission.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Free-time activities

You will have the opportunity to explore the community and various aspects of Liberian life. We will facilitate cultural trips, as well as socializing opportunities by going to local bars, beaches, restaurants or exploring the historic culture Liberia have to offer 


Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 09:00 - 17:00

Airport Pickup at Roberts International Airport

Our Program is all year round. volunteers/interns will be picked up from the airport to the guest house based on their flights schedule  


Experience Liberia will arrange for a homestay experience with a host family that can provide a highly secure environment with a private room, furnishings and access to water, a bathroom, a kitchen, fan and a mosquito net, however you are more than welcome to bring a mosquito net for your bed although usually not necessary.  volunteers/interns will share rooms with other international volunteers at our private guest house.                                      

The guest house has a cook, caretaker, electricity and security. Utilities include cooking stove, icebox, sitting room, and electric fans in all rooms. Local cooks prepare the food at the guesthouse under the close supervision of the International Staff Coordinator (ISC). Meals are provided twice a day: lunch midday (12pm-1pm) and Food for Dinner. There is a provision to arrange with the Cook or Guest Caretaker, to get breakfast materials ready; guests are encouraged to prepare their own breakfast.

The art of hand washing

 The Guest House Caretaker will help the international Staff with his/her laundry, and sometimes teach them the art of hand washing.

Food & Beverages

During your time here, 2 daily meals will be provided. Meals mainly consist of rice, chicken, beef, bread, eggs, soup, potatoes, oats, fruits, fish, pasta and many fresh ingredients. Also featured will be torborgee, potatoes leaves, beans, cassava leaves and palm butter served alongside, as per being Liberian traditional foods. It is also easy to find familiar Western-style dishes from the supermarket, restaurants and market places around the guest house or in cities. Clean, treated, safe water will be provided to all volunteers /interns

Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Roberts International Airport (ROB) in Monrovia. We assist you to find cheap flights to Liberia.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Liberia provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Liberia you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Liberia.
