This organisation was founded in order to give free medical care to people with chronic ilnesses and disabilities in the capital of Ecuador, Quito. Years after the medical centre was founded another facility was created in order to help adults and children who suffer from down syndrome, autism, speech difficulties, psychological problems and other special needs. Patients here are often from a very poor background and need the free healthcare, volunteers are very crucial in keeping this project running with volunteers coming locally and from around the world.
When caring for these patients volunteers require a lot of patience and empathy, it is essential that you are very active and creative as you will often have to participate in activities. Throughout your stay you will build relationships with both colleagues and patients this helps to create a fun atmosphere.
