Work along and share new skills with teachers at an underprivileged school and give them support where needed to help educate the children of Madagascar!

Experience the island life of beautiful Madagascar and immerse yourself in their colourful culture while educating the local children giving them a chance at a brighter future. Work along and share new skills with teachers at an underprivileged school and give them support where needed to help educate the children.

Grab this wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many children of Madagascar. Be part of a great cause and give the children a chance at being educated and give the support and provide new skills to the teachers at the school on a daily basis. Live within a local community and immerse yourself in its colourful culture and day to day activities. Most of the teachers do not have access to proper training so with your help and support you can contribute towards empowering the community by contributing towards education and ensuring that the children develop important skills. If you have space, pack some school supplies and see the joy on the faces of the children as they accept them. For a minimum of two weeks, you will be in Fort Dauphin and have the opportunity to live like the locals and experience a totally different way of life. Challenge yourself to live while having restricted access to amenities at certain times. Explore the beautiful beaches, canoe in a traditional dhow, visit the market and even go hiking on your days off! Also, visit a lemur reserve that is nearby!

This project is located in Fort Dauphin (also known as Tolagnaro, Taolagnaro or Tolanaro on some maps) in beautiful Madagascar. Madagascar is still in its developmental stage as such do not expect too much luxury. All amenities including limited internet access will be provided at a walking distance from your accommodation. Experience the island life and take in the magnificent beaches and coastline, tropical rain forests, abundant wildlife, amazing architecture and enjoy the simplicity of life.

You will be volunteering alongside local teachers who you will assist during your stay. A advanced level of English is required as well as being open minded, friendly, flexible and outgoing.

Typical day

The children of many schools in Madagascar do not have access to a high standard of education mainly because there are not sufficient means to properly train teachers in the schools. As a result, we hope that with your help you can contribute towards empowering and educating the local children. You will also be involved in an after-school homework support where you can further help the local children. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with after-school support.
  • Support the teachers in whatever way you can.
  • Provide new skills to the teachers.
