Rural Women Health Volunteer

We are looking for women volunteers to provide health education, maternal and child nutrition to our rural women groups and make life-long friends.

About Us

Ntoroko Rural Developement volunteer programs are based in Ntoroko and Kabarole districts. In these areas, 98% of its population lives in rural areas, and subsistence agriculture is the major activity. The poverty experienced in this area is not just a lack of money but also the inability to access basic needs, such as health care and health facilities, voluntary HIV counseling and testing, as well as basic affordable education for the children.

Ntoroko Rural Development programs allow you to take part in meaningful community service work, while discovering the people, sights, smells and tastes of rural Uganda. Volunteering in Uganda is a way to totally immerse yourself in Ugandan culture. This is a great opportunity to make life-long friends, learn a new culture from the inside out and discover that one person really can make a difference.

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s).

Time Commitment
Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Free-time activities

Volunteers will have an opportunity for a game drive at semliki national park, during the drive you may see animals like Elephant, Bush pig, Water Chevrotain, Buffalo, Sitatunga, Dwarf Antelope among others, get to visit the sempaya hot springs too.

You can also go for chimpanzee tracking. During trekking you may spot other primates like the Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Vervet, Red-tailed and Mona, Gentle Monkeys, Olive Baboon and Guereza Colobus, De Brazza’s Monkeys, you may also spot birds like the Spot-breasted Ibis, Hartlaubs’s Duck, African Piculet, Gabon Woodpecker, Red-sided Broadbill, White-throated Blue Swallow, Green-tailed Bristlebill, Sassi’s Olive, Xavier’s, Swamp, Simple and Eastern Bearded Greenbuls, Yellow-throated Nicator, Capuchin Babbler, Northern Bearded Scrub Robin, Forest and Grey Ground Thrushes, Lemon-bellied Crombec, Brown-crowned Eremomela, Blue-headed Crested Flycatcher, and the Ituri Batis and noctunals including the African Goshawk, Red-thighed and Great Sparrows, Ayres Hawk-Eagle and Cassin’s Spinetail among others. Add cultural visits to the local communities and crater lakes tour with stunning views of beautiful sceneries. Go shopping as well.

Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.

No worries, Volunteer World supports you in raising funds, checking your visa regulations and travel insurance. We also assist you in finding the cheapest flights for your journey.

Each room is equipped with mattresses, pillows, bedding, all day hot water is available on request, double bed, external toilet, and mosquito net and a fantastic private relaxing area in front of the hostel. The facilities are not ensuite but clean and well maintained

You can volunteer at the project site in Fort Portal/Uganda between 2 weeks and 30 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Ntoroko Rural Development will tell you your final price during your application process.
Average Fees
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Ntoroko Rural Development during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
