Conservation isn’t just about diving. To develop your career in marine conservation you will join like-minded individuals and take part in the modules. These informal lectures are specifically designed to give you critical knowledge of the marine conservation sector. You will learn:

  • how marine science relates to environmental policy and international legislation;
  • how conservation funding patterns work;
  • how to align your work to these trends to be successful in the sector;
  • marine monitoring skills;
  • to explore the career path best suited for your skill set and interests.

All our staff are actively working in marine conservation and are committed to helping you put your best fin forward for a career in marine conservation.

Our modules include:

  • Global Marine Conservation
  • Blue Carbon
  • Marine Conservation and Diving
  • Professional Development
  • Marine Monitoring
  • Shark Conservation
  • Online tools for conservation

Over the course of 2 weeks, you’ll work through a set agenda of our specially designed modules and field work to give you a taste of the marine conservation professional world and diving on the beautiful reefs of the Philippines.

The duration is 2 weeks minimum, longer stays can be arranged.

If possible, it is recommended that you bring

  • Laptop
  • Dive equipment – if you have, such as fins, mask, BCD etc.

Suitable for

Singles
Couples

Typical day

Breakfast runs from 7 am and the informal classroom sessions start at 9 am, however on days where you will be diving there may be earlier starts. The modules are designed to be interactive, adult learning experiences that are a mix of lecture and group work to help you get to grips with the knowledge and attitudes that are essential for working in marine conservation. The learning day typically ends around 5 pm.

The PADI Open Water course is taught by our trusted instructors who have years of experience training people to dive in a conservation context. You not only get quality teaching in terms of safety, but the courses are run with a strict emphasis on environmental diving.

Those who are already certified learn additional skills to help hone your environmental diving skills. There might even be the chance for you to get involved in local conservation efforts both above and below the water.

Whether you are learning to dive, or building your diving experience, your diving days will be mixed with the module days giving you the perfect balance of the bigger picture in marine conservation and first hand experiences with the ecosystems that inspire us to get into this sector in the first place.

We will eat lunch and dinner as a group, and evenings are your own personal time with the chance to explore our online library of marine conservation resources, watch documentaries, or generally unwind and enjoy the wonderful setting of the training base set in a botanical garden.
