Social Work Outreach

Transform the lives of street children by feeding, clothing and providing them with showers and social services.

The Y-Justice programme takes place on a Tuesday and a Thursday, with other days of the week as the programme demands. The core values of YMCA should be maintained throughout and these are CARING - RESPECT - HONESTY - RESPONSIBILITY - UBUNTU (uu-BOON-tuu; Zulu pronunciation: [ùɓúntʼú]) is a Nguni Bantu term roughly translating to "human kindness.")

Every week this programme reaches approximately 30 young people living on the streets. Volunteers who are dedicated and willing to give their time to young people who have had to survive harsh conditions, will enable us to transform the lives of those forgotten and/or neglected.  All you need to volunteer for Y-Justice is a huge heart, a gentle spirit and tons of compassion.  Y-Justice normally runs on a Tuesday and a Thursday from 10am to 3pm and on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays for outreach and ministry on the streets. You will be equipped to provide the children with food, clothing, showers, devotions and life skills during this programme.
Volunteers must attend training and this is critical for the success of each project.  Volunteers should have a positive outlook on life and strive to find the best in everyone and anything and they should have a huge heart, a gentle spirit and tons of compassion. Willingness and dedication to help those in need and some previous social work will be an added advantage. Ability to plan, organise, complete a task as well as the ability to move quickly from one task to another and to work under pressure at times with a smile.  If this is you, then we need you.
