Youth Development Projects
We work with grassroots organization to inspire and make proactive young people by enhancing their social and professional life skills, and engaging them in the development and transformation of their communities. ASTCF’s youth development projects offer participants with both valuable life-changing experience and an opportunity to make a difference.Volunteers in this field are role models and may conduct English language classes, life skills training, organize leadership and entrepreneurship workshops; engage youth in art performances, theater, script writing, and choreography aimed at raising HIV/AIDS awareness; facilitate workshops on reproductive health, effective communication, self-esteem building, positive decision-making; provide medical treatment, care and health education. A variety of activities are conducted to create great platform for the youth to get involved in career development and live to their full potential.
Well, we couldn’t really be Africa Sustainable Tourism Care Foundation without extra tourism adventure could we?! As part of your experience, in the majority of our longer term projects, we give you the chance to take part in a range of different adventure activities.
Uganda is a large and extremely diverse country in terms of both culture and nature. For three days you can undertake a safari that ushers you in the vast Bwindi Impenetrable National for Gorilla Trekking or the Murchison Falls National Park for Uganda Wildlife Tour or the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park for Uganda Bird Watching, or the Kibale National Park for Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking. You can also take a journey for Cultural Tour from Central to Eastern Uganda, to tour Kampala the Capital City of Uganda, Buganda and Busoga Kingdom, or to Western Uganda, to tour Bunyoro, Toro and Ankole royal monarchy, tradition and culture. The adventures will provide you with a break from your project, a chance to see your host country from a different perspective, and time to maybe live out a few dreams!
When you arrive in your new country you will be met either by a member of ASTCF staff, or by a member of staff from your project. Either way we will make sure there is someone to give you a warm welcome and guide you through the transport systems to your accommodation.
Depending upon the particular location and placement, volunteers will either stay with a host family or within our Volunteer Guest House, a rented house or lodge Within our Volunteer Guest House accommodation, we offer simple but clean, safe and comfortable living spaces where volunteers can reside in either a single or share a room with fellow volunteer of the same gender.
You will be provided with 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). However, we need to emphasis on the point that you should not expect to eat as you normally do at home. We will do our best to see that you are well taken care of, but also as a volunteer, there is a need to be flexible. If volunteers wish to eat out, there are a large numbers of restaurants and diners to suit all tastes and budgets. However, food and drinks outside of mealtimes are the volunteer’s responsibility
