Street children rehabilitation project.

Lome, Togo

Our vulnerable children rehabilitation program aims to engage and educate troubled urban youth through sporting and extra curricular activities.

You could play an important role in the personal development of street children in Togo. Coaching sports and teaching in schools and local village communities. There are a lot of life-skills to be learnt by children as well as volunteers, such as teamwork, punctuality, keeping to your word, communication and discipline.

As a volunteer on the street children rehabilitation project you can expect to work with kids of various ages ranging from 9 years to 16 years, mentoring and teaching them various subjects and engaging them with extra curricular activities. You will work with children from some of the poorest communities in Togo, during structured weekly sessions.

Daily routine:

Day starts at 09:00 to 13:00 or 14:00 to 17:00 (Morning and afternoon shifts)

Transportation to projects is usually on motorbike taxi or shared car taxi’s and at volunteer’s expense

Extra curricular activities 

The project is based at one our partner schools and the current group of street children we are woking with live, have meals and attend classes on school premises.

Volunteers on this project work as part of a team.

Free-time activities

On the weekends you could go to go the beach or to a swimming pool. There are various activities from cinema on the beach to yoga classes. Or you go to the market to buy some fabrics and get some fancy clothes tailored. Lomé also has a vibrant night life with a lot of concerts going on. If you wanna go traveling, there are many natural attractions to visit that include: mountains, waterfalls, Lake Togo as well as various nature reserves where one can see hippos and elephants.

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s).

Airport Pickup at Lome Airport

All volunteers are picked up at Lome International airport upon arrival by a member of the Kailend team and are dropped off at the end of their stay.

Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Lome Airport (LFW) in Lome. We assist you to find cheap flights to Togo.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Togo provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Togo you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Togo.

Average fees

You can volunteer at the project site in Lome/Togo between 4 weeks and 50 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Kailend will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Crowdfunding Service
Generally, volunteering abroad involves certain costs. In case you need financial support, we will assist you to fundraise your volunteer program in Togo.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Kailend during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
