Summer Sports Camp Coordinator

Each summer, HINT looks for volunteers to implement sports camps for children ages 12 - 15.

Many school children in Cameroon are not so lucky as those in more developed countries.  They spend their summer holidays working in the house, with nowhere to go and few (if any) children's activities to occupy them.  To address this problem, HINT makes an effort to run summer sports camps for local area children during the summer holidays (typically June through August).  In the past, such camps have been popular and successful with local children.

Sports camps may last anywhere from one week to two months (the length of the summer holiday).  Football is the most popular area sport, although volunteers are welcome to develop other sports programs (but be aware that a larger amount of training in the sport may be necessary before competition).  Basic health and nutritional training could be incorporated into the program, to teach children about how to keep their bodies well-fed and healthy.

Volunteers will be expected to design, develop, and implement the sports program.  HINT will help the volunteer with locating materials, a physical location for the camp, interested children, and other day-of volunteers, if necessary.  Overall, the sports camp will be the volunteer's project with minimal guidance from HINT.

This is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to gain leadership experience and for those who enjoy working with children.
