Support Coastal Community Development

Live alongside a Tanzanian fishing community on the beautiful Tanga coast and contribute to vital school projects and micro finance initiatives.

About the Program

Spending time in Tanzania means you get to experience life at our breezy coastal Camp Tanga. You will make a measurable impact on the communities our camp is located alongside. A friendly welcome will greet you as you work on improving school infrastructure for the local children, building school desks or constructing classrooms. You definitely won’t be short of new friends. Get stuck in to building homes for vulnerable families and the elderly for a hugely rewarding experience. Work on environmental workshops, educating local school children on the importance of recycling. Clean the beaches and take part in our flip-flop recycling initiative.

Experience true cultural immersion as you cook with and learn from the inspiring local women. Chill out and soak up the laid back vibes of Tanga Town, relax on the white sand beach, go for a kayak, snorkel the tropical waters and explore the local beach bars. We’ll take you on a trek to swim in crystal clear waterfalls, the perfect way to relax after project work. You will leave Tanzania safe in the knowledge that you have made a real difference to each community’s quality of life and no doubt have made a difference to your own life in the process.

This traditional fishing community suffers from high levels of unemployment and a lack of funding for local schools, forcing children to walk many miles each day just to get an education. You will help by building or renovating school buildings to create inspirational and stimulating learning resources, as well as building sustainable housing for needy families.

Tanga’s central location in the community means that many of the projects and activities are just steps away. You will experience authentic village life by living and working alongside this charming fishing community. As soon as you walk into Camp Tanga you will feel the fresh sea breeze on your face and there is nothing like grabbing a cold drink from the Baobab tree bar and sitting back to admire the amazing Indian Ocean view!
