Volunteers work with a team of dedicated team of staff members to rehabilitate community water catchments through tree planting.
The Volunteer Program for EPDA Cameroon changes with need. At this point we need committed volunteers with strong environmental, social, economic, education and development background or other relevant fields. The volunteer does not necessarily have to be very experienced. All that is needed is the willingness and the required motivation to participation in community development projects and/or ability to analyze and present community needs and priorities in a simple and logical frame that can be transformed into quick actions addressing community needs. The organization has some track record and good visibility in the local context which can be a good starting point. We also think that a volunteer that is strongly connected professionally and globally can be a great asset. We assist volunteers to acquire moderate accommodation and we provide working space and the necessary information to fund-raise for our charitable work. While we value our volunteers we also are flexible over her/his input. This means working hours, visit to other places of /her/his choice, after work hour socializing, etc. Other explanations are included in our volunteer contract and policy. Thanks for willing to volunteer with us. We really value and appreciate our volunteers.
Volunteers have a wide variety of things to do as after work. However, we will provide sometime (one - three weeks) for volunteers to visit the beautiful places around Cameroon. such as the beautiful palaces of the prominent Chiefs (Nso, Bafut, Bali etc) in the West and North West Regions with rich cultures and traditions, visit the rainforest (Korup National Park), Zoos and Gardens (Limbe Botanic Garden, Limbe Wildlife Center, Savannah Botanic Gardens, Mvog Betsi Zoo), Mount Cameroon, Menchum Falls Prescraft shops with artifacts, beautiful grassland galleries, etc. However, these visits are better planned in office for security reasons.
Volunteer will be picked up from and dropped off at the Douala International Airport.
The accommodation is located in the city of Limbe secured with iron gate with concrete fence. The volunteer will share living room with others, sometimes share toilet, share kitchen and veranda and balcony. Accommodation is equipped with furniture. Accommodation fees includes electricity (not exceeding $30. Additional electricity consumption is covered by the volunteer(s) living in the apartment), water, cooking gas and changing of bedding.
