Our teaching program places volunteers in Pre-schools, Primary Schools, Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools throughout the Volta. This volunteer program is especially suitable for:

Our teaching program places in local schools and Volunteers would work in Pre schools, Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools throughout. Volunteer may teach one more subjects including English, Mathematics, Computer and Science. Volunteer will be able to pass on invaluable skills as well emphasize the importance of a good educationn to Ghanain students andteachers.You will find an warm welcome awaits you from stundens. Assisting teachers in school with limited resources provides an enagaging environment for educting children and teenagers.Your ideas, your energy and presence are exciting for students and invigorating for teachers and parents.The students are full of curiosity about the world around them and they welcome your perspective. Your contribution will make great difference.

Typical day

Prepare lesson plan, teaching classes and evaluating student progress

·         Encouraging students and acting as teacher-advisor for students

Running extracurricular sport, club activities

·        Communicating with parents about students' progress

·       Helpin sutdents who need extra help of normal lessen hours

Maintaining  school discipline in the classroom (classroom management)

Free-time activities

Learning of how to play drums and dance with local People the traditionel dance of Volta Region: Borborbor, Agbadza and Kpanlongo Dance. - learning of how to cook Ghanian Food with your host family - learn the local language, called Ewe - participate and visit local Festivals, as the Yam Festival, Kente Festival
Volunteers get weekends off allowing them in their ample time to explore attractions in and around the city.
Here are some exemples for trips which can be organized: Monkey Village in Tafi Atome (close to Hohoe), Wli Waterfalls the biggest in West Africa and they can go to different beaches, like Busua, Butre, trip to Accra, the capital City of Ghana, to see the National Museum, Kwame Nkrumah Museum, lighthouse in Jamestown, Markola market, Art Center, Aburi Garden. They also visit Capa Coast Castle and Emina Castle, acient slaves Castles. Kakum National Park, where you can do a canopy walt Places to visit in your holidays: Mole National Park where you can see elephants, bamboos, antilope, warthog and Paga Crocodile Ponds, where you can see how crocodiles will be feed

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 08:00 - 14:30

Airport Pickup at Kotoka International Airport

An Airport Pickup Guide (APG) will meet you at the Accra Airport.
Please make sure to verify with us the date and time or your flight arrival

Accommodation

One bed room and small living hall. Bathrooms are shared and open buckets are used Depending on the volunteer project location;

Food & Beverages

Volunteers will be fed three meals a day and save with drinking water.
Your meals will typically consist of traditional Ghanian dishes, including rice, beans, maize meal, root, vegetables, fish, meat and Vegetarian meals.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra. We assist you to find cheap flights to Ghana.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Ghana provides security and is a plus to have.
Vaccines
If you are intending to volunteer in Ghana you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Ghana.

You can volunteer at the project site in Ho Volta/Ghana between 4 weeks and 24 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Crossover Volunteer Ghana will let you know about the final price during your application process.
Crowdfunding Service
Generally, volunteering abroad involves certain costs. In case you need financial support, we will assist you to fundraise your volunteer program in Ghana.
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Crossover Volunteer Ghana during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
