The volunteer project is based in Siem Reap close of the UNESCO world heritage site of Angkor Wat. Despite being in the town that receives the majority of Cambodian tourism there are many families living in extreme poverty.
The purpose of the volunteer project is to ensure that the children are receiving nutrition and education. We require volunteers who are willing to give their time and expertise to teach the children and to provide the support and education required to give them a better start in life.
Nearly 50% of the Cambodian population is under 15 years old a legacy of the Pol Pot regime.
The role is very varied and no two days are the same. You may be asked to help with preparing the meals or you could be helping the teachers plan lessons or helping with homework.
The Unesco world heritage site of Angkor Wat is located close to the project. There are also opportunities to travel along the Mekong river to visit other towns in Cambodia and Laos.
You will be collected from the airport by one of our local team. They will be holding a sign so that you can recognise them easily.
You will have a room with a fan in a local hostel.
Some food is provided during working hours at the hostel
