A training and development officer handles the learning and professional development of an organization’s workforce.

About the Program

ELOI Ministries has an experienced team of organizational consultants who are ready to guide you on all matters regarding to full organizational development and set up. The consultants at ELOI Ministries wholesomely handle and advice people on issues to deal with planning, inception, formulation, registration and implementation, advice on the activities, and any other legalities that are involved with setting up organizations. These services can be offered right from the very first stage of planning to any particular stage of the organization’s life to the client’s satisfaction. Trainers equip staff with the knowledge, practical skills and motivation to carry out work-related tasks. Training and development officers help with the ongoing, long-term improvement of employer and employees' skills, enabling them to fulfill their potential within their organization.

We also offer "Start your business" trainings:

In regard to this service, we offer advice, training and assistance that is very instrumental in helping someone to come up with any kind of viable business suitable for that person. 

For example we guide people on:

  • the identification of available businesses
  • the location of any business that is nearer to all the necessary factors for business success
  • the acquiring or accumulation of the necessary capital
  • how to get and maintain clients/customers among others

We also offer "Improve your business" trainings:

ELOI further goes ahead to give services as well as information that help revamp ones crippling businesses to greater heights. Trainings and mentorship sessions are often given to business owners. 

For example we advice on:

  • proper record keeping
  • packaging and branding of their products
  • market Research and advertising strategies
  • creating and maintaining partnerships with the stake holders like suppliers etc.
  • any help that will eventually revamp ones business back to life and in a better situation

Prior to Arrival 

The main airport in Uganda is Entebbe airport. It is about 45K from the ELOI Ministries headquarters in Kireka, Uganda (just outside of the capital city of Kampala). We will pick you directly from the airport and return you upon your departure. You may acquire a "tourist" visa at the airport upon arrival. The cost is $50.00 USD. You will need a valid passport with at least 6 months remaining time before expiring on it. You can carry your inoculation card that shows your vaccine records and have it available if asked.

Your Tasks

Activities are likely to include some or all of the following:

  • Participate in identifying training and development needs within the organization
  • Design and expand training and development programs based on both the organization’s and the individual's needs
  • Consider the costs of planned programs and keep within budgets
  • Devise individual learning plans
  • Produce training materials for in-house courses
  • Manage the delivery of training and development programs
  • Monitor and review the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with managers
  • Evaluate training and development programs and amend and revise them as necessary
  • Help line managers and trainers solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups
  • Have an understanding of e-learning techniques, and where relevant, being involved in the creation and/or delivery of e-learning packages
  • Research new technologies and methodologies in workplace learning and present this research

Program Requirements

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s).

- Critical Thinking: Corporate trainers will have to develop or assess materials that will help employees understand the subjects being taught

Your helping hand will be required on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 08:30 - 16:00

The indicated fees are for students, workers and retired people must pay a little more.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.

Airport Pickup

All local transportation for project is catered for including airport pickups and drop offs on the departure day.

Accommodation

Eloi Ministries has a good banglow building which has great accommodation facilities, strategically located with easy access to Kampala city centre which renders it secure and accessible. The house is self contained, with WiFi internet, small shared rooms of two to three volunteers, cable TV, CCTV CAMERA surveillance, warm showers and electricity for lighting and ironing in a family setting among other amenities.

Vegetarian and non vegetarian foods available. Uganda is blessed with numerous fruit types which are also available.
A volunteer is entitled to four meals a day namely breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner.

You can volunteer at the project site in Kampala/Uganda between 4 weeks and 50 weeks. Please note that the above shown program fees are estimated and subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Eloi Ministries will tell you your final price during your application process.
Average Fees
$172/week
Deposit (15%)
The deposit is simply to reserve your volunteer placement. Payments are handled by PayPal, our trusted global payment provider. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can also pay using a credit card.
Final Payment (85%)
Your final payment will be agreed with Eloi Ministries during the application process. Common solutions are either via bank transfer or a cash payment at the project site.
