Work With Rescued Dogs

Feed, bath and play with the dogs, help improve the facilities, Train and educate dogs.

The project

This program was created by a lady who started providing therapies to some kids with special needs (like down syndrome, brain palsy, blindness, autism) in one of the biggest parks in Quito on her own. 10 years on she has got more space to allow her to work, this has meant a larger influx of animals and kids, she now has 15 dogs and some horses, by using these animals she provides therapies to children with special needs.

The current owner of the project started out very small with only a handful of animals, but due to the great reception the project has become one of the most popular projects in the area. This means that they need volunteers to help with the project who have a real hands on approach with the way they work.

Your Work

Without the help of volunteers this project would not be possible. This is why the project needs as many as possible in order to keep it running.

On a typical day you willl be looking after the dogs, this is by feeding them regularly, bath them and also play with them, you will also help maintain the facilities and help improve it by cleaning the area and also fixing cages and other small tasks.

Some days you will work training the rescued dogs from the street by teaching them basic orders and how to walk on a leash, this requires a lot of patience and love.

There are no special requirements for this job. All they ask for is a genuine love for animals and a real enthusiasm to help! Your help will change the lives of each dog you work with and help the future of homeless dogs in Quito. If you do have any veterinary experience or are a vet student, please join as the help would be greatly appreciated.
