Help us to teach English for our students

About Us

Athena is a social enterprise of educational development in the suburb of Hanoi.

We provide low-price and free English classes for students in the rural areas.

We are English teachers in town. In 2014, we decided to give a very first free English class (It may be called English club for the first day). There were more and more students came to study English with us. Then in 2015, we decided to register an English school to the local government and got support from them.

We found our students so quick-learner and eager to learn. However, that is all about the terms of theory and grammar. And we are aware of importance of practicing in learning language, so. However That is the reason why we would love to invite you, English speakers, come to help us with language practice

Our Vision

Our vision is "teaching is the most meaningful job among other meaningful ones", and we are aware of what we can do. That is bringing our students closer to English community. And we hope you, English speakers, can give us a hand.

Our Goal

Our goal is to create a multi-culturally educational environment. Do you agree with us that experiencing life with local people is the best way to learn a new culture? Therefore we offer you volunteering positions so that we can help each other.

The Location

We are in the countryside, so the landscape is full of nature. Our town is surrounded by paddy and bananas field. You can have a walk or running around this field to enjoy fresh air and meet local people here. They are very friendly and generous.

Social Impact

We desire to bring benefits to our students.

  1. Firstly, that is in terms of economy, we provide low-price classes and totally free for poor children. We sometimes organize competitions and give scholarships to children in schools in town. We have about 200 students and half of them are from the poor family in town. These students are taught fee but they are very nice. Sometimes, they bring us vegetables or flowers which they grow themselves. That makes us find our job more meaningful than earning money.
  2. Secondly, in terms of knowledge, we don't only teach them English, we also teach them to live usefully. And foreign teachers have brought them knowledge about the world outside of Vietnam and the views of our life.
  3. Thirdly, in terms of society, we want to create a multi-cultural environment to help students and local people have new views on our life.
  4. Fourthly, in terms of education, we have been helping improve English of rural students.

In conclusion, we want to help our students with learning English, practice language in our own town without paying high fee and discover the world more through volunteers.
