About Us Giraffe Ambassadors is a mission-driven organization based in the heart of Kenya’s 48,000-acre Soysambu Conservancy. We provide a rare, front-line opportunity for volunteers to actively safeguard a population of 190 Critically Endangered Nubian giraffes.
Where We Work
We operate in the Soysambu Conservancy, nestled in the heart of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. This private conservancy is a critical wildlife corridor, a RAMSAR site, and part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. The area is secure and managed, offering a safe environment for international visitors. Regarding health, the region is high-altitude; we recommend volunteers stay current on routine vaccinations and consult a travel clinic regarding malaria prophylaxis and Yellow Fever certification for Kenya.
Our Mission & Vision
Mission: To protect the Nubian giraffe and its co-inhabitants through community-led conservation, predator-prey monitoring, and sustainable habitat restoration.
Vision: A resilient East African landscape where majestic megafauna like lions and giraffes thrive alongside empowered local communities.
Our Goals
Wildlife Monitoring: To track and record the movements and health of both the Nubian giraffe and the African lion to assist in rangeland management.
Habitat Restoration: To maintain a robust tree nursery with an annual goal of 20,000 indigenous seedlings to restore the conservancy’s flora.
Conflict Mitigation: To understand the interactions between apex predators and prey to reduce human-wildlife conflict in the surrounding areas.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for dedicated conservationists, biology students, and wildlife enthusiasts. Whether you are interested in the patient observation of giraffe herds or the technical tracking of lion prides, we need volunteers who are observant, resilient, and passionate about field-based data collection.
