  • Participate in playtime activities
  • Educating on personal hygiene, and safety rules and precautions
  • Developing stimulating new ideas to interest the children to learn
  • Organizing and leading extracurricular activities such as games, sports, art, music, dancing, story-telling, drama lessons, etc.
  • Assisting the local staff with administrative duties, promoting fundraising activities, and helping to plan events and excursions for the children

How You Can Make a Difference

Due to this project, orphanages are able to stay afloat and provide the children with the necessities. Besides lightening the load of the staff, your participation as a volunteer in Ghana will be helping the orphanage to be financially viable. You'll also be the shining light for the children and bring about a fresh and positive energy in the orphanage. You'll also play the role of a friend and mentor to the children, turning them into confident individuals capable of believing in themselves. The love and attention that these children get from volunteers will uplift their spirits and put a smile on their faces.

Free-time activities

The Ghana orphanage volunteer project schedule allows plenty of free time to explore the various sites and attractions of the area. You can expect to spend 7- 8 hrs per day, Monday through Saturday, working on your project, and this allows personal time in the mornings and freedom in the evening to explore the local area.

Moreover, Weekends, are free days to volunteers. You may choose to travel out of town to see the many interesting sights and sounds in other parts of Ghana or hang out with your fellow volunteer(s) and/or locals in the neighborhood.

Weekend trips available include visits to Mole National Park in the Northern Region of Ghana. This National Park offers a great Safari-like experience and is one of the biggest Elephant Sanctuaries in Africa with the chance to spot Lions, Leopards & Antelopes in their natural habitat

.
Volunteers can also take a trip to Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana to relax in the beautiful beaches and see the famous Cape Coast castle, the Kakum Canopy walkway and Elmina castle, where slave trade begun.
