About the program

This is an in-country shadowing program with provided shared housing and local team support.

The Arusha, Tanzania Medical Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the field of healthcare and make a meaningful impact on undeserved communities. Participants will work alongside local medical professionals, shadowing in diverse clinical settings, gaining experience in areas such as general medicine, ER, Surgical, maternal and child health, and tropical diseases. This immersive program also includes cultural exchange activities, allowing volunteers to engage with the local community and understand the broader context of healthcare in Tanzania. With a focus on collaboration and learning, this internship is an invaluable experience for those passionate about healthcare and eager to contribute to global health initiatives. This internship program is suitable for all medical students, and their placement within the hospital can depend on their area of study.

Our medical internship program offers pre-med, pre-health & graduates students the opportunity to gain top quality experience interning in the medical field. With valuable experience, you’ll develop your skills and understanding of different medical professions.

It is important to note with this program, it is based in a developing country, and medical care offered in Tanzania is much less advanced than in the US. A big aspect of this internship is taking the opportunity to learn and understand the challenges within the lack of medical care available in developing countries. As such, it is important to be prepared for this.
