About the project

JVP, born from a personal journey of gratitude, invites you to make a difference in Jamaican communities through volunteering. Join us in creating positive change.

Meet your organization

Jamaica Volunteer Programs stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity in the heart of the Caribbean. The organization's founder, who emerged from a humble background in the resort town of Port Antonio, Jamaica, faced the challenges of poverty but was determined to rise above her circumstances.

As the daughter of a hardworking housekeeper and cook, she found solace in education and the beauty of her homeland. Her mother, driven by a fierce desire to break the cycle of struggle, hid her daughter in the staff quarters after school, allowing her to explore the beaches and share the enchantment of Jamaica with tourists. Fate intervened when a couple from Windsor, Canada, captivated by the young girl's passion for her country, offered not only to adopt her but to sponsor her education through high school.

This act of generosity opened a world of possibilities for the founder, providing her with an education that became the cornerstone of her future endeavors. Tragically, her mother passed away when she turned 16, but the same compassionate couple continued to support her through college. This extraordinary gift of support and opportunity fueled the founder's unwavering commitment to giving back, inspiring her to establish Jamaica Volunteer Programs in 2001.

Today, Jamaica Volunteer Programs invites individuals from around the world to partake in meaningful experiences on the island. Whether volunteering, engaging in internships, or studying abroad, participants have the chance to make a profound impact on the lives of children and communities, echoing the founder's own transformative journey. By choosing to volunteer through this organization, you not only contribute to the well-being of others but also become part of a legacy rooted in gratitude, compassion, and the belief that education can break down barriers and change lives. Join Jamaica Volunteer Programs and be a catalyst for positive change, echoing the spirit of resilience and generosity that defines its founder's extraordinary story.
