This is an in-country shadowing program with provided shared housing and local team support.
The influx of high numbers of refuges, poverty and domestic violence are issues that affect all of us and there is a high need for people to help. Interns will support priorities for mental health, abuse, as well as working to support community members with diverse needs, such as the elderly, at-risk youth, and people with disabilities as well as in crises that arise from a natural disaster. Interns should be flexible to interact with diverse cultures and demographics and while they are not expected to be directly responsible for any client/patient care, they will provide services and care for people. Please note the degree of independence and nature of the tasks that Social Work interns will be assigned is dependent on your prior experience. The team is mostly trained or worked abroad in the UK or USA, eliminating any language barriers and offering international expertise.
Your day will begin at 9am following your coordinator to his day-to-day activities and community projects. Expect to end your shadowing each day at around 4-5pm depending on the daily tasks.
The placement takes place inside the vibrant city of Athens where many cultural events and activities take place. You have the chance to explore the historical sites of Athens or spent time at beaches around it. During your weekends you can travel to nearby cities, towns or take the ferry to one of the hundreds of picturesque islands.
We will review your application and if we accept you on this internship we will ask for you to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your place. The remaining of your internship fees (less your initial deposit payment) will be due no less than 30 days before your internship start date.
Internships start on Mondays and you will have the choice to participate in the program between a minimum of 2 weeks or up to a maximum of 24 weeks.
