Our main goal in this program is to support and empower children with learning difficulties in their learning through sensory activities and other activities. These sensory activities are extremely important because they allow children who are diagnosed with autism, down syndrome, ADHD, delay in language development, hyperactivity, and others achieve an "adaptative response". Through these "adaptative responses", children do activities that allow them to develop more complex skills such as drawing, writing, and learning and communicating effectively.

In this program, some of the areas that are stimulated are the the proprioceptive, vestibular and tactile system. After the school period, we also focus in developing social skills and abilities in the children.

As a volunteer, you may expect to collaborate in tasks such as:
  • Helping assess social and motor activities developed by the children
  • Writing down their results
  • Helping elaborate group programs (general goals) and personal programs (individual goals).
  • Supporting teachers in sensory stimulation classes
  • Restoring and giving maintenance to school areas
  • Supporting in workshops given to the children
  • Planning activities
  • Giving assistance to the children
  • Helping children in their language development
  • Doing stimulating work with the children
  • Recreational and didactic activities with the children
  • Collaborating in many school activities such as school festivals, collaborative projects with other local schools, community work, charity fundraisers, etc.
And other tasks that may arise depending on the specific needs of the school at the time of your participation.

Typical day

Volunteers work Monday through Friday (Monday through Friday) in two shifts:
  • The morning shift, which lasts from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
  • The afternoon shift, which lasts from 11:00 to 15:00.
  • The project is located 20 minutes by public transportation from where the volunteer will be staying.
  • Volunteers should also keep in mind that this project is created in sync with local schools, which means that additional extracurricular activities depend on school policies and student availability.

Free-time activities

Mexico is a magic place, with a culture rich in traditions and festivals that you might be able to participate in during your stay. That heritage is very noticeable in Mexico's many historical sites, bustling cities, and other places that you cannot miss during your stay in the country. Mexico also has plenty of unique and astonishing nature sights you must see in person. Some of the places in Mexico that we recommend you visit are:

Ciudad de México: Mexico's capital and largest city, it has many places you can visit, such as a wide array of museums (most recommended are the Anthropology museum, the Modern Art museum, and the Soumaya museum), archaeological areas such as Teotihuacán and El Zócalo, historical buildings such as the ones in Xochimilco, Garibaldi, and Coyoacán, large parks, and even the Cineteca Nacional (where you can explore the national cinematic production, movies produced throughout Mexico's history).

Tlaxcala and surroundings: The smallest state in Mexico, Tlaxcala is a place known for its large Nahua population, stunning archaeological sites, beautiful haciendas, and nature reserves. Some of the most beautiful places in this state are La Malinche, forests like the Sare firefly sanctuary, places like Va'Quirico and Trinidad, and also visiting during one of the many local festivities like the Día de los Muertos or the Great Tlaxcala Fair.
Puebla: This city has many interesting places to visit: the Zócalo, the small city of Cholula, many cafés and bars.. North from the city, there's the Northeast Sierra of Puebla, where you can visit towns such as Cuetzalan. Here, you can experience a more rural and natural way of living, filled with local indigenous cultural expressions and traditions.

Cancún and Mayan riviera: An area with some of the most beautiful beaches in the entire world, you could visit the island of Holbox (known for its bioluminescent plankton), the Playa del Carmen, the Isla Mujeres, Cenotes, and Cancún. There are also many historical sites and ruins you can visit in this area, such as Tulum and Playacar
