Put in practice your knowledge and learn a lot more while also supporting the functioning of Nepali hospitals.
This volunteer program is especially suitable for:
This volunteer program is open for trainees, nurses, medicine students, and medical professionals
—anyone with knowledge of medicine is welcome. Every volunteer shall be able to put what they've learned into practice —under the guidance of local professionals—, while also making healthcare accessible to local Nepalese communities that currently are in great need of help. Through this volunteering experience, volunteers will get unique and useful medical experience such as learning how to help with relatively basic equipment or experiencing directly how medical care works in third world countries. The experiential value of this program is especially high because every week of your stay, you shall be able to be in a different hospital room, which allows you to familiarise yourself with the way Nepalese hospitals work. Volunteers will be given tasks and placed according to their current abilities. Through their entire experience, volunteers shall work closely with local hospital staff and local professional doctors and nurses that will guide them through their program. Volunteers may expect to be involved in tasks such as healing wounds, supporting patient care, conducting pressure, pulse, and temperature controls, giving surgical assistance, performing medical exams, and giving support to the local hospital medical team; these tasks will be assigned depending on the specific knowledge the volunteer possesses.
Additionally, volunteers may support in areas like general medicine, emergencies, UCI/CCU department, surgery, outpatient, nursery, pediatrics, gynecology, and dental services.
Volunteers work on weekdays, approximately four to six hours per day. Weekends are free for volunteers to discover Nepal and enjoy the rich cultural heritage and landmarks it has to offer.
Tourism is the largest industry in Nepal and its biggest source of foreign income. This is precisely due to the very rich cultural heritage and beautiful attractions Nepal has to offer. We believe that during your stay as a volunteer you shall be able to enjoy some of those very beautiful sights as well. Some of the highlights we could suggest are:
-Assisting any of Nepal's very colourful and interesting festivals, where you'll be able to dive into Nepal's culture and history.
-The Kathmandu valley UNESCO sites
-Trekking routes such as the Annapurna Circuit, Sanctuary, and Jomsom
-Hot air balloons over the Himalayan mountains
-Exploring waterways on a raft
Among many others!
