Groups

Nepalese culture is very rich and prolific, which is something you can easily notice in its people; the life of many of Nepal's youth is filled with stark contrast: having scarce resources while being rich in values, love, and affection.

This Youth Empowerment volunteering program originated with those children in mind; young people who are willing to learn and get ahead, but frustratingly enough have little chances to do so, young people that often have to face social problems such as poverty or violence while also having to focus in their education. We believe in creating more chances for these children, because we believe that it can make a significant difference and it can help them succeed. That is why we are looking for anyone who would also like to be a part of this project to help empower Nepal's next generation, while also empowering themselves: this opportunity will allow every volunteer to develop their skills, enhance them, and also grow a lot on a personal level.

In the morning, our volunteers shall collaborate by focusing on community work with young people, by giving classes or talks at designated spaces like libraries. Volunteers shall also collaborate in the renovation, decoration, or adaptation of such spaces for the use of these young people. Unfortunately, our resources are limited, so every kind of support -be it in time, in materials, or creative ideas for new activities- are kindly welcome. Some of the activities volunteers may do are giving talks on environmental awareness, empowering youth in the library and book club, helping improve health and sanitation in villages, teaching children in school, and teaching children and youth some skills like computer education.

During their participation in the program, volunteers will have a volunteer coordinator who will instruct and guide them in order to help them integrate faster into the project.

Typical day

Volunteers at this project work between four and six hours on weekdays (Monday through Friday). Weekends are free for volunteers to go discover Nepal and all of the beautiful things it has to offer.
On the volunteers first two days in the program, they shall be part of an induction program, in which they will be introduced to the rest of the volunteers, to the project, and to many of Nepal's customs.
After that, volunteers may expect to work from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the days mentioned before.

Free-time activities

Tourism is the largest industry in Nepal and its biggest source of foreign income. This is precisely due to the very rich cultural heritage and beautiful attractions Nepal has to offer. We believe that during your stay as a volunteer you shall be able to enjoy some of those very beautiful sights as well. Some of the highlights we could suggest are:

-Assisting any of Nepal's very colourful and interesting festivals, where you'll be able to dive into Nepal's culture and history.
-The Kathmandu valley UNESCO sites
-Trekking routes such as the Annapurna Circuit, Sanctuary, and Jomsom
-Hot air balloons over the Himalayan mountains
-Exploring waterways on a raft
Among many others!
