La Puerta Abierta offers creative teaching practices which awaken a love for learning and exploration for our students and teachers. Early stimulation classes, primary education and teen reading groups are provided for families of all income levels. The center is also used for weekly tutoring for high school scholarship students. In addition, the Traveling Library shares books and story hours in rural schools.
Our mission is to empower children to use creativity, critical thinking and literacy to become innovative problem solvers. Through developing their individual talents and confidence, we prepare our students to become future agents of change and leaders in our community.
The heart and soul of La Puerta Abierta begins with our local staff of eight, many who have been a part of our program since it’s inception ten years ago . We value the support of parents at our center- believing that “it takes a village” to educate our youth. Families are encouraged to actively participate in their child’s education at la Puerta Abierta.
