OverviewThe program involves working with students aged between 6 months and 6 years, teaching and playing with them in English. These students reside in marginalized areas and rarely have the opportunity to practice English outside of school. Participants can choose to work with either younger or older students, or both, and are encouraged to bring their own ideas to the classroom while working alongside local staff.
The focus is on the participant’s attitude towards the children rather than the specific teaching methods used. Activities are adjusted to align with the school year, incorporating environmental issues and festivals. During holiday periods, special events and programs are organized to keep the children entertained and engaged.
The childcare program has a dual purpose: it aims to provide children with fun and engaging English language learning opportunities with native or proficient speakers, while also providing participants with valuable insight into childcare and the Kenyan education system. Additionally, it provides an excellent opportunity to build relationships with students, teachers, and even parents, and to take an active role in the local community.
During school holidays an English Camp outside the normal school system will be run, instead of an English Teaching program.

The city is known for its beautiful natural scenery, including Lake Nakuru National Park, which is home to a wide variety of wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, and rhinos. Nakuru is also a hub for agriculture and is one of the largest producers of pyrethrum, a natural insecticide, in the world. Additionally, the city has a vibrant cultural scene, with numerous festivals and events throughout the year, including the Nakuru Agricultural Show and the Lake Turkana Cultural Festival.
