    À propos du programme

This volunteering program focuses on community development and social inclusion in Nou Barris, one of the most overlooked neighborhoods in Barcelona, where more than 100,000 residents face social and economic exclusion. Volunteers support solidarity networks that fight poverty, food waste, and loneliness while empowering local families, children, babies, and elderly people.

Volunteers work 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday) and take part in food bank logistics and distribution, food collection from supermarkets, meal preparation, urban organic farming, elderly inclusion activities, and general community support. During summer (June 26 – September 1), activities mainly revolve around a local summer camp (Casal de Verano), with increased work with children.

Each day starts with Morning Wellbeing (physical activity, meditation, and positive writing). Volunteers also receive weekly training sessions on cross-cultural volunteering, NGO management, food regulations, and human resources, plus access to workshops such as yoga, meditation, climbing, martial arts, and language classes.

Accommodation is provided in shared rooms at the cultural center or nearby apartments. All meals are included (mainly vegetarian). Laundry facilities, mentorship, and on-site coordination are provided. Weekends are free to explore Barcelona and nearby destinations.

The program is open to volunteers 18+ (16–17 with parental authorization), families with children aged 13+, and hosts 8–18 volunteers at a time.

We expect volunteers to participate with a positive attitude, respect for the local community, and a willingness to contribute to different activities depending on daily needs. Flexibility, teamwork, and openness to intercultural learning are important, as volunteers often support several areas such as food distribution, community events, or activities with children and elderly residents. In return, volunteers can expect a supportive and welcoming environment, guidance from experienced coordinators, and opportunities to learn about community development, social inclusion, and nonprofit work. Volunteers should bring comfortable clothes suitable for physical activities, closed shoes for community work, and personal items such as sunscreen and reusable water bottles.

    MONDAY : SETTING PRIORITIES !
Monday is the day to plan and prepare all activities that will occur during the week!
This means we organize needs, priorities, teams, goals and appropriate training to be ready for
the coming challenges. Logistics and hygiene related to food are very important and everybody
must work on this! We end the day by a climbing workshop.
    TUESDAY: FOODBANK DAY!
The first thing in the morning is to prepare the area and disinfect the floor, tables and fridges
which will come in contact with the food; inventory control and separate the food that expires
soon. We distribute the food to the local families and once finished we disinfect everything a
second time. We usually end the day by a meditation workshop.
    WEDNESDAY: SUPPORTING BABIES SUPPLIES !
Wednesday is the day dedicated to prepare the foodbank 100% dedicated to babies in which
the volunteers lead logistics regarding the age, diet, particularities of each baby (0-3 years old).
This is also the day they receive a training session and language class. At the end of the day
    they attend a yoga workshop.

    THURSDAY: URBAN ORGANIC FARMING !
Thursday we go to our organic urban farm in the mountains close to the NGO to share
community life and work together on alimentary sovereignty and new models of self
    Organization.

    FRIDAY: TRANSGENERATIONAL COMMITMENT!
Friday is the day dedicated to elderly people in which the volunteers lead activities to be done
with the person we attend. In the afternoon we have a weekly meeting in order to plan the next
week and also participate to the emotional intelligence workshop.

Weekends are perfect for discovering Barcelona!

Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of the Catalonia region in Spain, is known for its
Renaissance art and architecture. It is the second most populated city in Spain and renowned
for its high quality of life. Known for its Mediterranean tapas and historic streets, it has
neighborhoods such as Gràcia, Gótico, and Born that stand out for their narrow streets steeped
in history. Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate, with a warm summer ideal for enjoying its
Mediterranean beaches. Within the city and just 20 minutes away by public transportation,
Bogatell, Mar Bella, and Barceloneta beaches are privileged spots to cool off and spend a
    typical afternoon in Barcelona.
For the weekend, Costa Brava, just an hour and a half from the city of Barcelona by train, offers
beautiful and authentic small seaside towns (Cadaqués, Platja d'Aro, Tossa de Mar, etc.). The
volunteer work will be focused in the Nou Barris neighborhood, characterized by its immigrant
population, many of whom are in vulnerable situations.
