    Individual care makes a significant difference in helping people with disabilities live meaningful lives. However, finding such care can be challenging, as Spain’s education system is not fully equipped to accommodate these needs. Volunteers provide essential support, offering one-on-one care that enables individuals with disabilities to integrate into their communities and live less stigmatized lives.

    What to Expect:

    • Personal Care: Assist with specific activities related to physical therapy, arts and crafts, exercise, and daily living.

    • Community Integration: Help individuals with disabilities become more integrated into their community.

    • Support and Connection: Provide individual care and build connections with the people you help.

    Daily Tasks:

    • Arts and Crafts: Assist with creative activities.

    • Physical Therapy: Support physical therapy sessions.

    • Exercise: Engage in activities like swimming or walking with dogs.

    • Meal Preparation: Help prepare and serve food.

    • Hygiene Assistance: Assist with personal hygiene and cleaning.

    After the initial orientation day, you will have a morning, afternoon or evening shift at the Special Needs Support placement and will work for approximately 3 to 5 hours per day. 

    A typical schedule is as follows:

    07:00 - 10:00 a.m.: Breakfast at the volunteer accommodation

    10:00 a.m.:

    After the initial orientation day, you will have a morning, afternoon or evening shift at the Special Needs Support placement and will work for approximately 3 to 5 hours per day. 

    A typical schedule is as follows:

    07:00 - 10:00 a.m.: Breakfast at the volunteer accommodation

    10:00 a.m.:  

    (1) Travel to the Special Needs Support place to join the local staff and begin work on your project or

    (2) Explore the city, relax, attend Spanish language lessons or enroll other activities if you have an afternoon project.

    01:30 p.m.: Explore the city and try the local cuisine!

    02:00 - 07:00 p.m.: 

    (1) Travel to the Special Needs Support place to join the local staff and begin work on your project or

    (2) Explore the city, relax, attend Spanish language lessons or enroll other activities if you have a morning project.

    08:00 - 10:00 p.m.: Dinner at the accommodation. After dinner you will have the remainder of the evening free to relax and use as you wish.

    Minimum leeftijd: 18 jaar

    Om deel te nemen aan het programma dien je tenminste 18 jaar oud te zijn op de startdatum van het programma. Er kunnen uitzonderingen gemaakt worden indien je een bewijs van toestemming kan aantonen van uw wettelijke voogd(en) of samen met je ouders deelneemt.

    Taalkennis

    Je dient over volgende taalkennis te beschikken Engels (gemiddeld niveau) ou Spaans (basis niveau)

    Must have prior experience working with individuals with special needs. This experience may come from personal connections (e.g., a family member), participation in school programs, volunteer work, or similar settings.

    What’s included?

    • Pick up at the international airport in Barcelona (when arrival is on the weekend) & public transportation transfer to the accommodation - Sunday 

    On Sunday, the ImpacTrip team will be at the airport waiting for you with a big sign and a smile on their face! :)

    If you arrive prior to Sunday, you will still be able to receive an airport pickup and our team can transport you to the accommodation, but you will need to pay an extra fee for this service.

    • Accommodation at a dormitory at a social hostel, female dormitory or mixed dormitory with a private bathroom; bed sheets are provided
    • Two meals a day everyday: Breakfast and dinner (Local style. Vegetarian, gluten-free, and meals for lactose-intolerant are also available upon request)
    • Shared use of the common room, outdoor area, and free WIFI
    • Orientation event on arrival (including an introduction to Spain and Spanish culture, volunteer experience, an overview of programs, practical information, and safety guidelines)

    • Allocation and coordination of a work placement in an impactful non-profit project

    Afhaal aan de luchthaven op Barcelona-El Prat Airport

    On Sunday, the ImpacTrip team will be at the airport waiting for you with a big sign and a smile on their face! :)

    Accomodatie

    You will stay accommodated in a social hostel with a meaningful social mission in Barcelona City. There are various common areas such as dining room, living room, room balconies, outside areas.The hostel is in a neighbourhood where you can find everything you need: a mall, local coffee shops, supermarkets, ATMs, hospital, police and most utilities you will need just around the corner. 

    The Hostel is 10 minutes walking from the metro stop and has many buses running by that can bring you to the city center in 1 hour.

    But what is really unique about it is its social concept. The hostel is actually a social business for a non-profit ran in the same building. The non-profit develops a wide range of programs, campaigns and activities for children and youth, their families and third sector organizations. 

    Eten & Drank

    We will provide breakfast and dinner at the hostel everyday. 

    The hostel restaurant offers meals everyday for all volunteers in a very Spanish style and they are prepared to accommodate most diet restrictions such as vegetarians, gluten-free and lactose intolerant.
