Vurderingsbeskrivelse

The United Cultural Empowerment and Social Community Organization – Africa (UCESCO Africa) is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (NGO) in the United States of America (USA), operating in Africa to assist the impoverished and at-risk populations, fostering sustainable change within their communities.

UCESCO Africa is recognized as one of the leading and secure organizations for international volunteering, providing impactful programs. We offer a variety of community-focused and locally managed projects throughout Kenya, including in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, and other more remote regions, such as Samburu, located in the Northeastern part of Kenya, as well as in other African countries, including Uganda. Furthermore, we are recognized as the largest and most impactful providers of free medical camps in Africa, as well as a Healthcare and study abroad outreach initiative, making a positive impact on the lives of numerous people in slums and underprivileged villages throughout the continent.

At UCESCO Africa, we implement a diverse range of programs across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, sanitation, and micro-enterprise development. By engaging directly with these communities, we provide practical assistance that promotes long-term sustainability and meaningful change.

Our efforts over the years have directly impacted the following groups:

  1. Persons with Disabilities (Tree Side School)
  2. Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) (Peggy Lucas Centre of Hope, Dalton School, Shining Hope, New Horizon, Bright Achievers)
  3. Vulnerable Single Mothers (Dream of Hope Rescue Centre, UCESCO Women’s groups
  4. Young mothers (MVETI centre)
  5. Youth (Both male and Female in sports and talent development)
  6. Patients in need via our pop-up clinics and monthly/Annual Free Medical camps

Alignment with National and Global Goals

In line with Kenya Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UCESCO Africa’s programs aim to tackle critical issues related to poverty (SDG 1), inequality (SDG 10), health (SDG 3), education (SDG 4), and environmental sustainability (SDG 13). These frameworks direct our initiatives, ensuring that our work aligns with both global and national objectives for sustainable development.

Why choose us

UCESCO has a 100% safety record in Kenya, and we mean to keep it. Our programs in Kenya are safe to experience. Generally, Kenyans are friendly people by nature, especially toward volunteers who are helping their community. We advise that no volunteer should be out after dark and that volunteers should stay indoors after 9 pm. Exceptions are made when volunteers are with UCESCO local volunteers or project staff. This is merely a precaution, but one that we expect all volunteers to keep. People may stop to say hello and it is polite to respond; however, they will understand if you are busy and cannot chat for long. Never accept an invitation to visit a stranger. We also recommend that you arrange medical, dental, and eye check-ups before you depart, to identify any issues that might affect your time in Kenya.
