About Volunteer Africa 32° South

Volunteer Africa 32° South has been operating since 2004. Since starting we have placed international volunteers into high need community and conservation initiatives and provided opportunity to make a real difference. We provide volunteers and interns with inspiring and life-changing experiences, and at the same time helping them to deliver sustainable support to local South African communities and the environment.

Our volunteer programs are run either directly by Volunteer Africa 32° South or as a collaboration between Volunteer Africa 32 Degrees South and local partners. We have carefully selected a few additional hand-picked projects that aren't run directly by ourselves. Volunteer Africa 32 Degrees South provides support for volunteers right from the get-go; from initial inquiries, through the booking process, meet and greet at the airport and with experienced staff and co-ordinator support during the project. Volunteer Africa 32 Degrees South knows that volunteering does not end when you leave us - your connection to the people that you worked with is special and as important to you as it is to us.

Supporting Volunteers

All of our volunteer projects are driven by us on the ground. We have carefully selected a few additional hand-picked projects that aren't run directly by ourselves, to market.  Upon arrival you will meet one of our very own team. We provide support for volunteers right from the get-go; from initial inquiries, through the booking process, meet and greet at the airport and with experienced staff and co-ordinator support during the project. All too soon it's time to de-brief and transfer back to the airport but don't worry - the support doesn't end there!

We know that volunteering does not end when you leave us - your connection to the people that you worked with is special and as important to you as it is to us. At VA32 we stay connected even when you have returned home - our vast network of past volunteers, many of whom return, have a strong connection with VA32 and Chintsa. Not only are we available for a chat or e-mail anytime but you will receive newsletters to let you know how your chosen project is doing, be a part of our fundraising campaigns and receive discounts and special offers as a returning volunteer.

Aim

Volunteers and interns at Volunteer Africa 32 Degrees South are given the opportunity to join these programs which offer life-changing experiences, which contribute to the growth and forward movement of a developing country, offer personal skills development and the opportunity to be a part of a very special community. Volunteer Africa 32 Degrees South aims to promote sustainable development in the communities and environments that we work with whilst addressing both current and long term needs and challenges.

I came to Chintsa to volunteer with VA32 for the first time in 2008..and totally fell in love with the Wild Coast Schools Project, with VA32 and with Chintsa. I came back again in 2009...in 2010...and on and on... and now I'm based here in Chintsa. I would recommend the experience of the Wild Coast ...
Where can you begin! I first went for a month when I was 18 scared and nervous, and have never before or since felt so welcomed into a community. Mike, Karen, April, Thobs, Denver, Milton, and all the rest are absolutely inspirational the way they work and run this company. I went as a schools ...
The project was very well organized, it exceeded my expectations. I really loved the afternoon activities - helping at the Children's Home of Safety in particular. Drama club was also really cool - I think doing drama is really important and helps to children to develop as young, confident ...
It immersed me in a culture so different from mine, and opened my eyes to the ample opportunities I have to make a difference. My time here in South Africa has been an amazing journey – one that I'll be telling to my children and their children. Volunteer Africa 32 welcomed me as their own and ...
Everyday is a new beginning and the kids are willing to learn and get to know you better, it's just awesome to see the look on their faces as they discover something new on the computer. We kind of realise that no matter the background, where they come from, what they have and what they don't, kids ...
The project was as organised as it could have been. Structurally very good with clear objectives for volunteers. I found it the most organised thing. But at the same time we had the freedom to use our own ideas and initiatives and that is a hard thing to achieve in a structured project. Tom & ...
