In Rincón del Mar, the increase in tourism and the village's limited resources have resulted in poor environmental management. The village is a victim of an accumulation of massive plastic waste that pollutes the soil, mangroves and sea, and dangerously threatens the balance of the ecosystem as well as the village's resources. The environmental activists are unanimous: we must find ways to act together to protect the environment in Rincón del Mar! To meet these challenges, LifeTime Projects has developed a project with local partners.
Presentation of the mission :
During this environmental mission, you will actively participate in various projects, such as:
- Raising awareness on environmental protection through workshops with children and promotion of the work carried out by local organizations;
- Restoration of the mangrove in partnership with the local organisation Afrovismar;
- Monitoring and preservation of sea turtles (around September/October)
Tagesablauf
8:30am : wake up and shared breakfast with the other volunteers
9:00 am : daily team meeting
9h30 : Work with a local organization in environmental projects (Depending on the season : turtle monitoring, plant seeds, build plant nursery, prepare sensibilisation actions, work on monitoring tools, work on communication tools, ……)
12h30 : Lunch time
14h : Work with a local organization in environmental projects (Depending on the season : turtle monitoring, plant seeds, build plant nursery, prepare sensibilisation actions, work on monitoring tools, work on communication tools, ……)
17h : Free time

Um an diesem Programm teilzunehmen, musst du mindestens 17 Jahre alt sein.

No specific skills requires but a love for the environment and an open mind. Team work and multicultural skills are a must.

You will live in a
Gasthaus
guest house for volunteers. You may have to share a room with one or more other volunteers. A living room and kitchen are shared as well as outdoor living space (a terrace and garden). Washing is done by the neighbor, when there is running water (water shortages are frequent in Rincón del Mar !).
Vegetarian and other dietary requirements available upon request
Volunteers take turns to prepare breakfast (from local fruit and produce)
Lunch is provided and you can cook your own dinner or try out a local restaurant (prices vary from 3000 pesos to 35000 pesos)
Limitierte Verbindung vor Ort
Visa, Flüge, Reiseversicherung und Impfungen sind NICHT in den Programmgebühren enthalten.
Das Abholen vom Flughafen ist auch nicht in den Programmgebühren enthalten.
Der nächstgelegene Flughafen ist Rafael Nunez International Airport (CTG) in Cartagena. Wir helfen dir günstige Flüge nach Kolumbien zu finden.
Ins Ausland zu gehen ist ein Abenteuer, auf das man sich stets gut vorbereiten sollte. Plötzliche Krankheit oder Verletzung, Stornierung oder Diebstahl - eine Reiseversicherung für Kolumbien bietet die nötige Sicherheit.
Bevor du deine Freiwilligenarbeit in Kolumbien antrittst, solltest du dich noch einmal von deinem Arzt beraten lassen und deine erforderlichen Impfungen für Kolumbien überprüfen.

Arrival to Rincon del Mar is usually through Cartagena and then a local bus to San Onofre (2 hours) and a motorbike to Rincon del Mar (30 minutes).
Please do not bring suitcases but only backpacks as the last bit of your trip to Rincon Del Mar will probably be on a motorbike.
