    Experience international volunteering with Adventure Volunteer's volunteer programs in Tanzania, Zanzibar city located in Tanzania, Africa. Learn with volunteer projects for child development in Tanzania.

    One of the ways to get to know a country is through volunteering, but not just any volunteering, but a different volunteering experience; where you can know, live and feel the true essence of that place and its people. You can do this by volunteering in Tanzania.

    Get to know for yourself this wonderful country, which also needs the time you can dedicate to a social cause as important as this one.

    The main objective of the volunteer programs in Tanzania is the training of young people, children and people with disabilities, as well as working with women. We seek to empower and develop all the skills and knowledge of children and young people from low-income communities.

    As a volunteer in Zanzibar, you should know that there is not enough equipment to cope with the current demand for work. We expect our volunteers to come up with new ideas and teaching methodologies that will motivate our children and youth to continue learning and build a better future for themselves.


    Classes are organized as part of the volunteer program in Zanzibar teaching with children where you will participate as teaching support in the following areas (the volunteer does not create the classes independently):

    Mathematics, computer science, languages and sports.
    Art, dance and music activities.
    Health and hygiene talks
    Environmental and gardening workshops
    Reading and theater spaces
    Cleaning and maintenance of the center
    Assisting the center staff and teachers.

    Important Project Summary – Zanzibar

    • Culture & schedules: Time is managed flexibly in Zanzibar—schedules are not strict and may change with local circumstances. Volunteers are expected to remain open and adaptable.

    • Accommodation: Housing is very humble and basic. These are shared/community spaces, and individuals from the school, local volunteers, or staff may have access. Do not bring valuables (a safe cannot be guaranteed).

    • Safety & environment: The area is not a highly organized/urban setting, so extra caution is required when moving around outside the school (stay in busy areas, avoid walking alone at night, and inform the coordinator of any outings).

    • Traveler responsibilities: Visa, vaccinations, medical insurance, and any excursions or free-time activities are the sole responsibility of the volunteer, who must verify requirements with official sources before traveling.

    Volunteers are expected to work on weekdays (Monday to Friday), while weekends are free for volunteers to discover all the beautiful things Zanzibar has to offer. 

    Volunteers will start by participating in orientation and initiation to the project. This is usually done during the first two days of the volunteer's stay; in these two days, volunteers can expect to meet the other volunteers, visit the chosen project, and learn about the culture and the customs and norms of the project. 

    The schedule can vary according to needs, normaly is in the morning

    We have a house at the school; however, if it is full, or depending on the needs and availability of host families, we may assign another main project where volunteers stay with trusted local families, if such needs are required in that program.

    Although Zanzibar consists of three islands, known as the Spice Islands, we will focus on Unguja, which is the largest and has the most tourist attractions among which are its fantastic white sand beaches and turquoise waters, the possibility of water sports such as kayaking or diving, strolling through the cobblestone streets of the historic Stone Town or see a fantastic sunset, which are just a small representation of the best things to do in Zanzibar.


    Also, you can't miss the wildlife around you, going on safari, or visiting parks or nature reserves.

    We expect volunteers to be creative in their teaching methods, and very willing to help children learn and grow. Proactivity and respect for the culture are also required.

    Afhentning i lufthavnen i Zanzibar International Airport

    Pick up included during the weekend at the airport. Preferable to arrive on Friday or Saturday.

    Indkvartering

    The volunteer's house has rooms that you will share with other volunteers, you will also share the bathrooms (flush toilets and tank showers)  and common areas.  Humble housing

    Towels and bed linen are provided. The shower is with water tanks and the toilet is flush to the floor Turkish style.
