    Marine Conservation Volunteer Program

Our Marine Conservation Program offers a powerful mix of hands-on ocean conservation, environmental education, community awareness, and unforgettable island experiences. Designed for volunteers who want to make a real impact, this program combines practical marine work with meaningful learning and cultural connection.

    Program Balance
    • 80% ocean-based conservation activities
    • 20% theory, education, and community-based learning
    • Theory and school-based sessions are subject to school holidays, local schedules, and teacher availability
    • The program is designed to be active, practical, and immersive, with most of your time spent directly engaging with Bali’s marine environment
    What Makes This Program Unique
    • Hands-on conservation experience in one of Bali’s most beautiful coastal regions
    • 2-4 dives per week, depending on weather, conditions, and project schedule
    • Opportunities for recreational dives in other parts of the island, typically around 3 dives
    • A mix of coral reef restoration, reef clean-ups, marine education, and conservation awareness
    • The chance to explore famous dive locations such as Lovina Reef, Menjangan Island, and the Tulamben Shipwreck
    • A meaningful balance of adventure, education, conservation, and cultural discovery
    Ocean-Based Activities

Volunteers take part in practical marine conservation work, including:

    • Assisting with coral reef restoration
    • Supporting reef clean-up activities
    • Learning about reef health, coral growth, and marine biodiversity
    • Helping protect fragile underwater ecosystems
    • Exploring key dive and snorkel locations around North Bali
    • Observing how tourism, waste, and human activity affect marine life
    Dolphin and Marine Awareness

Lovina is known for its dolphins, but unsustainable tourism practices can create risks for local marine species. This project helps raise awareness around:

    • Responsible dolphin tourism
    • The protection of local dolphin populations
    • Sustainable marine practices
    • The importance of reducing pressure on ocean habitats
    • Community education around ethical tourism
    Community and Education Activities

Conservation is not only about what happens in the ocean. Volunteers may also support education and awareness activities, including:

    • Bringing marine conservation education into local classrooms
    • Supporting awareness sessions at BDF and partner schools
    • Helping young people understand the importance of ocean protection
    • Assisting with plastic recycling projects
    • Supporting beach and reef clean-ups
    • Taking part in turtle conservation activities where available

    • Tulamben Shipwreck – one of Bali’s most iconic dive sites
    • Additional snorkelling or dive opportunities may be available depending on conditions and schedule
    Extra Add-On Experiences
