    Om programmet

Content for Change is a transformative community-driven project where volunteers partner with local associations to create impactful content that drives social change. The program focuses on harnessing the power of storytelling, media, and digital platforms to highlight key social issues, promote community initiatives, and give a voice to those who may not always be heard. Volunteers will work directly with these local organizations, helping them craft and share stories that can inspire action, raise awareness, and ignite positive transformation within the community.

Throughout the program, volunteers will assist in producing a variety of content, including articles, videos, photography, and social media campaigns. This content will be used to shine a spotlight on the meaningful work of local organizations, whether it's addressing environmental issues, supporting marginalized groups, or promoting public health initiatives. By sharing these stories, the program aims to foster a more connected, compassionate, and proactive community.

Volunteers will also be given the opportunity to empower local voices, as they work alongside individuals and groups who are making a difference. Through this collaboration, volunteers help to amplify these voices and ensure that their efforts and successes are recognized, celebrated, and supported. This provides volunteers with the chance to be directly involved in creating a more inclusive and just society.

Beyond content creation, Content for Change encourages community engagement, as volunteers participate in events, workshops, and campaigns aimed at furthering social causes. Volunteers will not only contribute their skills in writing, media production, and digital communication but will also gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by local organizations and the impact of their work.

Ultimately, the Content for Change project offers a unique opportunity to combine creativity with social impact, making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities. By leveraging the power of storytelling and media, volunteers will contribute to a better-informed society where positive change is actively promoted, and local voices are heard and valued.

The volunteers will live in a cozy and centrally located hostel in Montijo, a quiet but charming town just across the river from Lisbon. The hostel is within walking distance of shops, cafés, parks, and the riverside promenade. It’s also close to public transport, making it easy to explore the surrounding area or reach Lisbon in about 30 minutes by ferry or bus.

Volunteers will work in various community-based settings around Montijo, such as cultural centers, schools, local NGOs, and public spaces. Their main tasks will involve creating content, helping with local communication strategies, promoting events, managing social media, and supporting outreach campaigns. Depending on the time of year, they might also participate in festivals or help develop promotional materials for community projects.

What do we expect from the volunteers?
We expect volunteers to be proactive, creative, and open to working with different people and age groups. A strong interest in communication, media, or community work is highly appreciated. Basic knowledge of design tools, photography, or social media management is a plus, but not mandatory.

What can the volunteers expect from us?
We provide a welcoming environment, full support during the project, and guidance throughout the activities. Volunteers will receive orientation upon arrival, ongoing mentorship, and opportunities to learn new skills. We aim to create a positive, inclusive, and meaningful experience for every volunteer.

Do volunteers need to bring special equipment?
No special equipment is required, but if you have your own laptop, camera, or creative tools, feel free to bring them — they might be useful during communication-related tasks. Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended for walking and community visits.

    Typisk dag

As a Marketing and IT volunteer, your day is flexible and focused on creative and digital tasks that support the visibility and functionality of the project or organization. While there is no strict timetable, volunteers are expected to contribute around 5 hours of work per day, which can be organized around personal preferences and team coordination.

Each day may vary depending on current needs and projects, but typical tasks may include:

    • Creating and scheduling content for social media platforms

    • Assisting with photography and video editing for promotional use

    • Writing blog posts or newsletters

    • Helping develop marketing materials (e.g., flyers, presentations)

    • Supporting campaign planning and online engagement strategies

    • Updating and maintaining websites or online platforms

    • Assisting with basic design and layout (e.g., WordPress, Canva, Wix)

    • Providing tech support to the team or helping improve digital tools

    • Organizing and backing up digital files

    • Supporting data analysis or web traffic tracking (e.g., Google Analytics)

Volunteers often work independently or in small teams, with regular check-ins from the coordinator to track progress and brainstorm ideas. Tasks may be done at the office, coworking space, or remotely (if applicable), and there's space for creativity, innovation and learning.

Free time is available before or after work hours, giving volunteers the opportunity to explore the area, connect with other team members, or enjoy local culture.
