Your Role:
As a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will be an integral part of the hospital's physiotherapy team, contributing to various essential tasks. Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Patient Assessment: Assisting with the initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical conditions to create tailored treatment plans.
Therapeutic Exercises: Guiding patients through therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation routines under the supervision of licensed physiotherapists.
Manual Therapy: Assisting with manual therapy techniques to help relieve pain and improve joint function.
Patient Support: Providing motivational support to patients, encouraging adherence to exercise programs and promoting positive health outcomes.
Data Entry and Record Keeping: Entering and maintaining accurate patient records, following strict confidentiality protocols.
Observational Learning: Actively observing and learning from experienced physiotherapy professionals about various treatment techniques and patient care processes.
Preparing a Report: Compiling a concise report summarizing your experiences and key observations during your placement.

Your Stay in Arusha:
You'll stay at one of our 4 Siret Hostels offering comfortable accommodations, excellent meals, and security. The hostel is located in a quiet neighborhood, a short distance from the town center, and provides a supportive environment to connect with other volunteers. Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry services (for a small fee), and dedicated support staff are included.
Transportation:
You will experience local transportation, utilizing walking, public minibuses (budget approximately $1 per day, 4-5 days a week), or taxis (trusted drivers are available through Medi Trip).
Essential Information:
- Visa & Permit: A visa and work permit are required. Inquire for details and costs.
- Hospital Practice Fee: A weekly contribution of up to $50 USD is payable to your host hospital (Ministry of Health, Tanzania).
- Airport Transfer: Transfer from Kilimanjaro (KIA) or Arusha (ARK) airports included.
