    Offering psychological care and rehabilitation, the program aims to nurture the potential of children or teenagers with motor disabilities. It takes into account each student’s level to facilitate interaction and active participation in a social setting, fostering increased independence.

    In addition to its educational assistance, the school provides support to teachers, enabling them to deliver comprehensive care and train students for competitive or supervised activities in the workforce. The supplementary services encompass physical therapy, language therapy, counselling, pre-employment training, as well as sports and recreation opportunities. 

    Location

    We offer this program in several locations: one in the city of Puyo, the capital of the Province of Pastaza, and another in Archidona, located in the Province of Napo. Both provinces are situated in the Amazon region. Additionally, we offer the program in Riobamba, the capital of the Province of Chimborazo, located in the Highlands.

    Puyo, nestled in the heart of Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest, is a vibrant city and the capital of the Province of Pastaza. Surrounded by lush greenery, Puyo offers a unique blend of urban life and natural beauty. The city is a gateway to the diverse ecosystems of the Amazon, attracting nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.

    Archidona provides a gateway to the wonders of the Amazon basin. The town is characterised by its friendly community and a blend of traditional and modern influences. Visitors to Archidona can immerse themselves in the local culture, explore nearby natural attractions, and experience the unique flavours of the Amazon through its markets and cuisine.

    Riobamba, the capital of the Province of Chimborazo in the Highlands of Ecuador, is a city steeped in history and surrounded by stunning mountain landscapes. Nestled in the Andes, Riobamba boasts a mix of colonial architecture and indigenous influences, creating a unique cultural tapestry. The city is known for its proximity to Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest peak, and serves as a starting point for many Andean adventures.

    Project Tasks

    Assist the local teachers in:

    • The daily care of children
    • Playing with children
    • Help in the training workshops
    • Teach the children how to eat by themselves at lunch time

    Typisk dag

    The volunteers get up around 6am to have breakfast in their host family, and then walk 15 minutes to the school. The schools starts at 07:00am and finish at 13:00 hours, no more late than 14:00 hours, with afternoons free.

      Visit the Ingapirca Ruins: Explore the ancient Inca ruins at Ingapirca, Ecuador’s largest archaeological site.

    Indkvartering

    Upon arrival in Quito, volunteers are required to visit the main house to receive essential safety guidelines and receive information about the country. Accommodation is provided in the main house, where you will stay in dormitories with 1-4 people per room. 

    The project accommodation will be with an Ecuadorian host family.

    You will receive 3 meals a day. The food will be local Ecuadorian cuisine, vegetarians are welcome but we are not able to cover vegans needs, because they are very strict. Vegetarianism and veganism are not part of the Ecuadorian culture.
