The project

This is a specially designed program which includes volunteer work with children in orphanage, along weekend trips and adventure activities in Nepal. This 3 weeks program is highly popular as a summer gap year program, and a lot of high school and college students apply for this program. 

Volunteer work

As a part of the volunteer program, volunteers will be working in either Orphanage, Teaching Project or with mentally – physically disabled children. You can render invaluable help by doing volunteer work at an orphanage in Nepal by giving them love and affection, teaching them basic conversational English, helping them in their school subjects, guiding them about personal hygiene and sanitation, taking them out on small excursions and engaging them in extra – curricular activities. 

It would be an unforgettable and soul enriching experience for you which may compel you to return.

Trips & Activities

With regards to the adventure trips and weekend activities, there are visits included to Pokhra, Bhaktapur, Nagarkot, Chitwan National Park, Swyambhunath Temple, and many more.

All in all, this will be a great opportunity to experience a memorable summer gap year abroad. 

Typical day

Day 1 (Sat): Arrival in Kathmandu

You will be picked up from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and transferred to your accommodation. Rest and relax for the day. 

Day 2 (Sunday) – Orientation

Today your coordinators will be discussing with you your program itinerary for the days to come and give you the essential information.

Day 3 (Mon) to Day 7 (Fri) – Volunteering in Kathmandu

These five days will be your volunteering week which will include spending time with underprivileged kids in the society. You will be placed either in an orphanage center, or at a local government school, or may be at a disabled care placement. 

Day 8 (Sat) – Kathmandu City Tour

Today we will take you for City tour of Kathmandu.

Day 9 (Sun) – Free Day in Kathmandu

This day is free for leisure activities or optional tours or for shopping. 

Day 10 (Mon) to Day 14 (Fri) – Volunteer work in Kathmandu

You will continue volunteering work and gain rich experience out of it.

Day 15 (Sat) – Trip to Bhaktapur and Nagarkot

At around 10 am, we will take volunteers to Bhaktapur, one of the ancient Kingdoms in Nepal. In Bhaktapur, You can see amazing pagodas and other monuments. Nagarkot is located near Kathmandu from where one can get amazing views of the Himalayas. 

Day 16 (Sun) – Visit to Patan and Swayabhunath Temple

After breakfast, we will take you for tour of Patan and Swayabhunath Temple. Patan is one of the ancient Kingdoms in Nepal.

Day 17 (Mon) to Day 20 (Thu) – Refreshing tour of Chitwan and Pokhara 

Enjoy a safari in Chitwan National Park and other activities like nature walk, bird watching etc. Once the Chitwan trip is complete, you will head to Pokhara for some exotic local sightseeing. In this tour you will visit places of tourist attractions like Mahendra Cave, Seti River Gorge, Devi’s Fall, Peace Pagoda and Bindhyabasini Temple. One can also visit the International Mountain Museum. Adventure lovers can opt for add on activity of paragliding.

Day 21 (Fri) – Pokhara-Kathmandu 

In morning, volunteers will return to Kathmandu by bus or van or car.

Day 22 (Sat) – Departure from Kathmandu

It’s time to say bye to Nepal. Check out from the accommodation and proceed to airport for your onward / return flight. 

Free-time activities

Typically, volunteers are required to put 5-6 hours every day, 5 days a week. However, work timing is dependent on the project chosen by the volunteers and can vary.  You will get free time in the evenings and on the weekends. 

You can utilize this time to explore the local market streets of Thamel, visit Durbar Square, see evening prayers at the “ghat” of the Pashupatinath Temple and also visit Swayambhu temple. 



In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

Airport Pickup at Tribhuvan International Airport

Volunteers are picked up from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu by the local staff or coordinator. Those volunteers who will be already in Nepal will be met by the staff at a designated meeting point decided beforehand.


Accommodation is provided on a shared basis in a local Nepalese family home or at our volunteers house. Depending on the availability you would be assigned your accommodation. Both the home stay accommodations and Volunteers house are neat and provide a comfortable stay during your volunteering period in Nepal. 

All accommodations have running water, electricity and all basic amenities available. Both accommodations have hot water showers for winters and wifi internet available. Occasionally volunteers are also accommodated in Guest house accommodations.

Food & Beverages

2 or 3 Nepalese meals will be provided to all volunteers depending on your work schedule. Breakfast typically consists of Bread, Butter, Jam, Sandwich, Tea etc. Typical meals provided include Dal (Lentils), Rice , Vegetables , Chicken and meat etc. Vegetarians can easily be accommodated.

  • All three meals (Breafast, Lunch, and Dinner) will be provided during volunteering weeks.
  • Only Breakfast and Dinner will be provided during weekends.
  • Only Breakfast will be provided during Chitwan and Pokhra tours.

What's NOT included?
Visa, flights, travel insurance or vaccinations are NOT included in the program fees.
Flight Tickets
The nearest airport is Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu. We assist you to find cheap flights to Nepal.
Travel Insurance
Going abroad is an adventure and it is always best to be prepared. Sudden illness or injury, cancellation or theft - a travel insurance for Nepal provides security and is a plus to have.
If you are intending to volunteer in Nepal you should seek medical advice before starting your social journey. Check your required vaccinations for Nepal.
