Destiny Foundation is a private NGO founded in 2017 by Bryson Lyatuu who has twelve years of prior experience as a special needs teacher before he created the foundation. It provides essential care for children born with mental and physical disabilities. In Tanzania children with disabilities are often not approached with the care and education that they need and deserve. Some never get a chance to socialize or meet with other children their own age. Destiny Foundation not only facilitates room and board for ten local children, seven days a week, but it goes out to work in the community of Arusha. They are therefore able to help up to 80 children with an outreach program that ensures disabled children get the care and love that they need. The services provided are:
Physiotherapy
Speech therapy
Visual stimulation
Community awareness building
Survival activities and life skills
Every child is at a different level and age, so care levels must be tailored to every child very specifically. There is a team of qualified therapists, nurses, and teachers working alongside the staff/volunteers to make sure that the correct care and procedures are being followed.
We offer a wide range of activities at affordable volunteer rates like:
1. Hiking/Walking tours to waterfalls, through forests and around a lake.
2. Swimming in paradise like hot springs with a blimps of the Mount Kilimanjaro.
3. Cultural tours to Maasai markets and the possibility to visit different ethnic groups.
4. Coffee plantation tour to learn about the process from the bean to the finished product.
5. Safaris to the National Parks of the Northern Circuit (Arusha NP, Lake Manyara NP, Tarangire NP, Serengeti NP, Ngorongoro Conservation Area).

Accommodation in a single room is possible (extra charge).
The hostel is located 25 walking minutes from the city centre. Although the house is close to the busy town and is surrounded by a green environment. In the garden we have different fruits, like bananas and avocado. Our hostel dogs Takwa and Nala are part of the family and stay in the compound as well. The house is equipped with hot water showers and the possibility to use the kitchen through out the day.
