The Lifetime Projects team in Colombia supports local grassroot organizations and co-develops projects in the field of children, interculturality and the environment. Despite a high proportion of children in the village, few activities are offered to them and they often find themselves playing alone or behind screens when they are not called upon for daily household chores. Thus, in order to meet an omnipresent demand from them, Vivac’t – LifeTime Projects Colombia has developed an entertainment space to offer fun, educational and entertaining extra-curricular activities. The activities are thought out according to various themes such as solidarity, the environment, the body, and this, in a fun educational approach seeking to stimulate their imagination and arouse their curiosity about the world around them, develop their sense of cooperation and respect for others as well as their self-confidence.

Thanks to the presence of our international volunteers, a space for intercultural exchange has been created. For example, we offer language workshops to meet the expectations of young people and adults, particularly in the context of the development of tourism in the village.

In addition, Vivac't – LifeTime Projects Colombia participates in the promotion of local Afro-descendant culture by collaborating with the village library/cultural center and by supporting initiatives by young people in the village such as the newspaper “Rincón de las noticias”, and this, in a knowledge and skills exchange approach.

Presentation of the mission

Are you passionate about art, extra curricular activities, the transmission of knowledge and intercultural sharing, do you want to give your time to a solidarity project by participating in the organization of activities intended in particular for the children of the village?

During your mission, you will thus support the local team to propose, prepare and lead workshops with children and young people: linguistic, artistic, creative and manual workshops, or sports activities, etc. The center is open to any new workshop proposal!

The local team also works in collaboration with the village library, Mariamulata, which intends to promote the local Afro-Colombian culture by offering cultural activities such as traditional dance and music to children and young people from an educational perspective. Your mission will also consist of supporting their team and carrying out joint events, such as the regular organization of an open air cinema for the inhabitants of the village.

For this mission in a socio-cultural center in Colombia, it is necessary to master the basics of Spanish in order to be able to communicate with the children and the inhabitants of the village and to carry out the socio-cultural activities.

As for any mission in contact with children, it will be necessary to carry out a preliminary interview with the referent psychologist of the association.
