Bucaramanga and Colombia in general have many street dogs. This is a problem, because these dogs suffer often from many health problems. Thats why our foundation has a big impact in solving the street dog problem in Colombia. Our dog resort rescues dogs from the streets, give them medical treatment and a beautiful place to live. 

As a Volunteer, our animal program offers you the possibility to calm down and escape from your daily routines. It's a relaxing retreat on a dog farm in the beautiful nature of Bucaramanga, Colombia. The dogs have been safed from the streets. The owners of the dog resort take care for the hygiene and the nutrition of the dogs. But they have barely time to go on walks or play with the dogs. That's why they are happy about volunteers who enjoy to walk these lovely creatures through the beautiful landscapes with a lemon farm and a small river. 

As a volunteer, you will stay the days at the dog farm and the nights in Bucaramangas most popular hostal. So you will have relaxing, quite days with the dogs and the possibility to meet new friends at the evenigns in the hostel. It's also possible to sleep at the farm, but conditions are very simple. Additional to your volunteering, you can attend high quality spanish classes, have salsa lessons, and join us on various great hikes, excursions and adventures around the city of Bucaramanga. If you like adrenaline, we take you zip lining, river rafting, paragliding or even bungee jumping. If you like it calm, we show you spectacular views and relaxing hikes. Breakfast and Lunch provided.

The days are very variable, that's the beauty of our program! Some days you can stay at the dog resort (as many days as you wish), other days we take you paragliding, river rafting or other great excursions. Also, you can have Spanish classes and dance lessons.

The days are very variable, that's the beauty of our program! Some days you can stay at the dog resort (as many days as you wish), other days we take you paragliding, river rafting or other great excursions. Also, you can have Spanish classes and dance lessons. 

Regarding the Volunteering responsibility: There are no direct responsibilities, just that you respect the animals. Hygiene services do *Not* have to be executed by volunteers. Your task will be to spend time with the dogs, to go on walks and to feed them. It's a rather relaxing program for dog friends who aim to calm down for a little while. 

Example:

Day 1: Breakfast at 8am, transport to the foundation at 9am, spend the day at the dog resort, have lunch at 12pm, get a Spanish lesson at 3pm, get a dance lesson at 7pm.

Day 2: Breakfast at 8am, Pick-up by bus at 9am, go paragliding over South Americas biggest canyon with included lunch at 1pm, at 5pm transport back to hostel and in the evening traditional Colombian Games.

Other days, you will go hiking, visit a coffee farm. You can get your individual program, based on your preferences.

Requirements

Minimum Age: 18 years

In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

You need to speak Spanish (basic level)

No restrictions. Helping hands from all over the world are welcome.

Other Skills

Volunteers should be comfortable in the company of many dogs and should not be afraid of barking. The dogs are not aggressive but they may be a bit intrusive to new guests.

Time Commitment

Your helping hand will be required on Wednesday and Friday from 09:00 - 16:00

Services by Bucara Voluntours

A big part of the fee will be contributed to support the dog resort. Other parts are used to cover your accommodation, nutrition and transportation.

Airport Pickup at Palonegro International Airport

All transportations are included. You will be picked-up at the airport, we will check your flight number which you have to provide to us. During activities, we drive you safe to all places in a car. 

Accommodation

The price includes a 4-person Dorm room and can be upgraded to a private room (+70USD shared bath / week or +100USD private bath per week). You will sleep in the cities most popular hostal where you will meet nice people from all over the world and can attend many activities. 

Food & Beverages

Excellent Breakfast (eggs, oatmeal or bread options) & Lunches (meat, fish & vegetarian options) included as well as drinking water. Dinner is not included. Hostel has a kitchen to use and there are many great restaurants nearby (Dinner plate around $8).

About the project

We offer an all-in program containing social activities (kids, animals, or even in a prison), Spanish Classes, Dance Lessons and many adventure and explore tours.

Meet your organization

We are a collaboration of 9 Colombian NGO's. Bucara Voluntours has been founded in 2023, but our foundations already exists for many years and have a lot of experience with their activities and also with volunteers.

Bucara Voluntours re-united the foundations and created a program which offers the perfect combination of social, exploring, adventurous, fun and learning activities. 

We are based in the beautiful city of Bucaramanga in Colombia. The area has a lot to offer: Beautiful nature, many great hikes, South Americas biggest canyon and much more. The city is not that much touristic, so you can explore Colombia in it's most authentic way and interact with many locals. 

Our mission is to support beautiful and important NGO's in Bucaramanga, and at the same time offer an unforgettable experience for our Volunteers. One of our main visions is to give access to English classes to every child in the north of Bucaramanga. 

Why choose us for you volunteering? We are looking for people searching for an authentic, social but more than all fun experience. We don't expect you to do work which you don't like. You decide by yourself the time you want to spend with our foundations. You can have as much free time as you want, and there are many great activities we will organize for you.
