    About the program

    1. Kukua Pamoja - Young Stars
The Kukua Pamoja project is a comprehensive after-school programme for boys between the ages of 7 and 20. The initiative not only provides football training, but also theoretical lessons aimed at improving participants' football skills, instilling discipline and teaching valuable life skills. The programme fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among the children. Founded in 2022 by Ayoub Hassan, Kukua Pamoja is based on the belief that group sports can make a significant difference in the lives of young boys, many of whom come from challenging backgrounds and families.
Ayoub Hassan envisioned Kukua Pamoja as a means of empowering the community and supporting these boys to become self-reliant and successful in their future endeavours. By participating in the programme, the boys learn teamwork, perseverance and the importance of discipline, all within a supportive and structured environment.
Looking ahead, the Kukua Pamoja project aims to organise its own annual match each November. There are also plans to expand the programme and increase its impact on the community. Through these efforts, Kukua Pamoja aims to provide even greater opportunities for personal growth, skill development and community building for its participants.
To take part as a volunteer, a one-time donation of 50 USD is required. This contribution helps support and sustain the project, allowing us to continue working toward our shared goals.

    2. Jithubutu Social and Cultural Centre

The Jithubutu Social and Cultural Centre was founded by Cristina Mazo in Tanzania to address the lack of educational and recreational opportunities for young people. Officially registered under the Samaritan Initiative Organisation, the centre opened its doors in October 2022. During her volunteer work, Cristina noticed that young people lacked access to books, language courses, creative opportunities and safe places to gather. She decided to address these needs by creating a space where young people could learn, meet and express themselves. Jithubutu serves as a hub for exchange, education and mutual support for young people with diverse interests and backgrounds.

Aim: The Jithubutu Social and Cultural Centre in Arusha, Tanzania, aims to create an urban centre where young people can spend time together and share skills through activities such as language classes, entrepreneurship workshops, dance, library access and board games.

Objectives: To help young people use their time productively and stay away from risky behaviour.Provide access to culture and enhance young people's skills through diverse activities to improve their career prospects.Serve as a springboard for new talent in dance, music, urban arts and audiovisual creation.

Activities offered and collaboration: All activities are offered free of charge and the centre works with local and international volunteers. The aim is to provide entertainment, help participants learn new skills and grow together.

The Jithubutu Social and Cultural Centre is not only a place of learning, but also a space where young people can unleash their creativity and discover new opportunities.

    Typical day

    1. Kukua Pamoja
The regular working hours for volunteers are from Monday to Friday.
Volunteers usually come to the Kukua Pamoja office in the morning to prepare the day's lessons and plan the week's structure. This is also the time to work on marketing, fundraising and writing proposals. The specific tasks can be discussed with the coordinator and depend on the background and interests of the volunteer. From 4 pm to 6 pm, the football training takes place at a field 15 minutes from the office. Volunteers can plan and run the sessions with the boys.
On Saturdays, volunteers can also join the theoretical football sessions, but this is not compulsory.

    2. Jithubutu Social and Cultural Centre
Volunteer work hours at Jithubutu vary depending on the chosen activity and duration of commitment. The center operates Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am to 6:30 pm, with peak hours typically after 1:00 pm.
Volunteers can choose to participate in a variety of activities, including teaching language classes, leading workshops on entrepreneurship, organizing dance sessions, and managing the library. Each of these activities may require different levels of time commitment, ranging from a few hours per week to several hours per day. Specific working hours will be agreed upon based on the volunteer’s activities and the center’s needs.
For instance, those involved in teaching language classes might be needed for morning sessions, while dance and creative workshops might be more popular in the afternoons and evenings. Additionally, volunteers who manage the library or organize board games might have more flexible schedules, as these activities can be spread throughout the day.
