About the program

The province of Palawan is located in the Mimaropa region and is the largest province in the country, abundant in wildlife sanctuaries, marine reserves and world heritage sites. Being the location of Palawan Island, one of the most biodiverse islands in the Philippines, the area has one of the most beautiful seascapes in the world and receives a lot of local interest for conservation. Come volunteer to collaborate in the environmental conservation of the community.

Our hope through this volunteer project in the Philippines is to conserve mangrove plantations and reverse the trend of deteriorating mangrove sites, which have experienced a rapid decline in recent years.

Realistically, this can only be achieved through education of the younger generation, combined with the ongoing physical work of planting new mangroves.

That is why we will be asking you to serve as a fortifier of our natural coastal barrier, which is slowing storm surges, reducing beach erosion, cleaning beaches. We also need your help in promoting environmental conservation through training sessions with children.

For our tree planting part of our program, we have chosen moringa and mahogany seeds for their multitude of benefits, availability in the local area and because they will grow easily here.

Mahogany is one of the most popular trees in the world. Its wood is known for its beauty, strength and durability. But few know that its seeds can be used for medicinal purposes, as they contain saponins and flavonoids. Benefits can include treating fever, reducing bad cholesterol and even improving blood circulation.

Moringa is a "superfood" that also has many health benefits. It is also known as the "miracle tree" or horseradish tree. The pods, leaves, seeds and roots are edible. It is a favorite of local villagers, as their home remedies may include seeds or leaves for the prevention and treatment of various diseases. The pods or leaves can also be used in local cuisine, as it pairs well with fish or meat dishes.

This program is perfect for you if you have a good level of fitness, enthusiasm and passion for making a change that benefits the environment as well as the local community!

Keep in mind that changes in the tide affect water levels and therefore your ability to complete certain tasks in the mangroves. In that case, you will be guided to other activities during that time. Your coordinator will inform you if your schedule will be affected.

The volunteer may visit nearby areas in his or her free time. In the evening, the group has dinner and prepares for the next day.

Support in the cooperation and creation of social and environmental projects in communities at risk of social exclusion, through international volunteering.

Meet your organization

ADVENTURE VOLUNTEER is a non-profit organization, established in 2017. We collaborate in the social and environmental field through projects of conservation and protection of the environment and animals, as well as in the social part through projects of empowerment of women, community development, functional diversity, medical or teaching.

Our team of collaborators has a deep experience in international volunteer programs.  We know all the realities of the areas where we are working, collaborating and where we have a presence.

Our projects offer volunteers the opportunity to meet, share and participate in social and environmental projects. These projects demand educational and recreational activities that benefit communities of different cultures and customs, communities with economic difficulties and different degrees of social exclusion.
